Adsense Invalid Clicks

Sometimes I have clicks that are worth no money at all... One time, I checked my account and it had, say $1.00 and 10 clicks, then I check later and I have $1.00 and 13 clicks. The numbers are just examples I pulled out of the air and don't represent actual earnings I have made (I know I'm not supposed to talk about it).

My question is this... is the zero value clicks due to invalid (fraudulent) clicks? These were not clicked by me or by anyone I had "influence" over... could it be that, because I am on DSL and my IP is dynamic, someone else on an IP I had once used is clicking my ads and G thinks it was me?

I'm not sure how many clicks were of zero value but that time I noticed them, it was 3 clicks that weren't worth anything. Is it also possible that G will just stop counting clicks from one IP if they click more than a predefined amount (predefined by G) in one day? What if a visitor to my site actually wants to click 10 different ads on the site in one day?

Stats are not updated simultaneously for clicks/impressions/earnings at the same time. At the end of the day everything settles down.

It seems silly that they wouldn't be updated simultaneously.

Are you speculating? Hear that from someone else in the forum?

I'm guessing that only G knows the answer to your questions.

A little speculation from myself, perhaps G considers a click from one ip on the same ad twice as invalid, for in the case where someone clicks on an ad, goes one page into the site and then hits the back button. This may appear as another click on the ad so G doesn't count it.

Usually they do update simultaneously. It just only happens sometimes.

just wondering if they consider that some people are on dynamic ip and if that affects how google tracks fraud clicks..

so far i haven't been cancelled for it and i haven't been charged back for any invalid clicks.. it's just that i noticed some clicks were worth nothing.

Yeah I've seen this before. I checked my stats first thing one morning (its almost a religious thing now) and I noticed I had one click with a value of $0.

I had clicks without impressions yesterday morning. Also I noticed once a CTR of more than 100 percent. Especially right after Google-midnight stats for the new day are not so reliable.

Something I did earlier on how the stats work [webmasterworld.com].
