More Adsense Revenue With Custom Channels?

Do custom channels increase your adsense earnings?

I run a website with several different categories. I never thought about creating custom adsense channels for different branches of my taxonomy so that adsense advertisers can target specific niches. I do know many advertisers are running placements on my website.

I'm curious how big of a revenue boost (or decline) you may have seen by adding custom channels? How granular did you go with your channels? It looks like I could easily do 18 channels, but one would be a "catch all".

I have a lot of custom channels, 80 to 100 or so, mainly so I can see what ad sizes perform best where and on what pages/sections. I don't know if having them raises revenue, but I think they are worth setting up if just for easier management of ads and a clearer picture of what how they are doing.

Thanks, I agree and that's all I've ever used placement channels for is to track my own initiatives. But, In doing some reading, it appears that advertisers that want to target your website can choose which area they want to show in based on these same channels?

I know I have some sections that demand a much higher EPC than others and I also "appear" to have more than a handful of advertisers who are trying to run placements on my site. What I don't know is if segmentation will increase or decrease my revenue.

I guess I will just give it a go and see what happens...
