Anybody else seen this? Definitely a first for me.

When you hover over the (i) icon next to the bright yellow "Ad" box it reads:

These ads are based on your:
• current search terms
• recent searches on Google
Visit Google’s Ads Settings to learn more or opt out.

Saw my first on .co.uk today. No hover, I had to cick a down arrow beside the url to get that message.

If these are ads on search pages, they're not AdSense.

But they're probably part of some kind of privacy disclosure Google feels they have to do before someone forces them to - they've also been testing removing the shaded background for the ads (I can't even see the background on a laptop it's so pale) so maybe this goes along with that.

I've seen a small bright yellow [AD} icon next to ads on serps the last few days, but not all the time. It appears just before the AD title, very hard to miss. Haven't noticed it on publisher websites though.

A test I assume. I like it.
