Did your adsense CPM just go down a lot today?

Hi our earnings just went down the drain today! Has anyone else had this same issue? It's gone down by about 45%!

Thanks, born2run

My sites would not do well during the holidays, ever. Big drop but nothing unexpected here.

Funny to see that every week there are dozens of new topics like these.

My CPM is normal today. In fact it is even above average.

No, it was down on Friday, but Saturday was excellent and Sunday is looking even better.

I don't get worked up over day-to-day variations, though--CPM (like CTR and EPC) is subject to spikes and dips, and the long-term numbers and trends are what count.

My earnings for Saturday are always at the bottom and Sunday is just above it.

Yesterday was surprisingly good. Not super-fantastic, but quite decent, especially for a Saturday.

Today is alarmingly low (so far).

Just remember, there's a different between CPM and earnings.

Total daily earnings are likely to be down for many publishers, simply because Web traffic in general tends to slip during the holidays. The revenue per thousand impressions, a.k.a. effective CPM, doesn't necessarily drop when traffic falls, however--just as it doesn't necessarily go up when traffic increases.

Looks lie it is going to be one of very best days for my sites today. Though, my websites are for residential surfers mostly. Aparently all depends on the website and surfers profile.

Yes, I notice this every day until my stats settle down at the end of the day :) However, my affiliate program worked perfectly today. Best day ever!

Today is great, slightly above average. From the 15th through the 18th were 20% of average epm wise. Traffic has held steady during the holiday weekend slump due to the Y! update giving some traffic to a site sandboxed on G.

Nope! In fact Sunday's CTR spiked and stayed so much higher than usual (+47% over month so far avg) that I dashed off an e-mail to G to check into it. CPM up 87% too which is more than expected since CPM = Earnings/Clicks*CTR*1000 so CPM SHOULD BE directly proportional to CTR if CPC remains constant.

Remember your typical visitor just radically changed.

Starting this weekend:
1. Most adults today are out shopping, little browsing time OR shopping online which means browsing elsewhere...
2. Most kids today are home from high school for the winter break.
3. Most college kids are home from school too.

So depending on who normally visits your site or would be searching for your content, there you go.

Personally I had a really good day on most of my sites.

I also noticed some item categories on ebay are remarkably low, others are overflowing. So traffic is very different right now everywhere.
