Taking over a previously disabled site.

Reapplying for Adsense - is this possible?

A couple of months ago, we acquired an established business and, as part and parcel of the deal, the established web sites that were included.

Previously, Adsense had been run across a number of the sites we've acquired, but the account, under the name of the previous business owners, was disabled due to alleged click fraud.

As new owners of this business, and the respective sites, we've been looking at the possibility of applying for inclusion in the Adsense program, with the intention of running ads on the sites we've acquired. Trying to find out whether this is possible or not however, has been neigh on impossible.

Correspondence with the Adsense team seems only to have been met with standardised responses, which aren't relevant to our particular query.

The Adsense program policies are explicit as to transferrability of accounts and, if Adsense had still been running on the sites following our purchase of the business, we would have had to re-apply for a new account. There is however, no mention of an instance such as this, where a business, whose account was previously disabled, has been purchased and the new owners wish to apply for an account with the intention of running Adsense on that same site.

Does anyone have any experience of this particular scenario, or how to get past the stock responses that we're getting back? We understand that Google reserve the right to just say no for any reason, but don't believe that to be justified in this particular case, hence trying to pursue the matter.

I've read here (numerous times) that ban applies to the owner of the domain AND to the domain itself... so those sites would not be accepted again, sorry.

It's only what I read here, I have no personal experience with the dark side.

I G support does not help. Get a new domain, forward all visitors from banned websites to the new domain. Use your existing account. Bingo!

You have NO chance of having that site reinstated. I was advising a client on purchasing a new website ($xx,#*$!) purchase price and was advised by adsense support, in no uncertain terms, that the site was banned forever.

Looks like my initial thoughts are, unfortunately, confirmed. In addition to the comments received here, I've also had a useful reply back from the Adsense Team, which puts paid to hopes of running Adsense on the sites we've just purchased.

It's not the desired result, but puts the issue to bed!

I'm just curious, how did you originally find out that the sites were banned?

Speaking for myself I was actually helping out a client. They had been in discussion for a long time (the purchase price was in the thousands) and the seller was quite up front about it. The purchasers wrote to adsense got the "no chance" reply but they still went ahead(against my better judgement/advice). They are using cpm banners and some other cpc companies and doing OK.

Applying to the Adsense program, then having the account terminated following the addition of the ads to the site in question, kind of gave the game away!
