I am thinking about placing some youtube videos that are related to my content on my site although they are videos with hundreds of thousands of views on youtube, they are copyrighted videos, most of them content from TV episodes now my competitors are linking to these videos that are hosted on sites that I will not link too, there sites like megavideo etc.. They show x-rated, casino and health products that are illegal in some country's but these sites who are my competitors they are displaying adsense and they are gaining higher search rankings than me for keywords like 'Watch #*$!x' where as i can only write about the subject as i do not want to embed the videos as i display adsense advertising.

Some of my competitors are embedding youtube videos and they are submitted by users who are not the official copyright holders.

I was thinking about putting them on pages and showing other advertising for example my own in house ad sales where i sell banner advertising but because these pages would be linked from my homepage i again am worried it will effect my adsense account as i would be linking to a page with copyrighted material i have tried to email adsense support but have had no responce

thank you

Welcome to WebmasterWorld JasonUK

You'll be lucky if you ever have a response from Google support.

To be honest the reason why I have never embedded anyone else's videos is the copyright issue, I just don't need that hassle.

If you're considering x x x clips with AdSense then that's a big no no insofar as I am aware however there are a couple of video experts around here who may be able to advise better.

No i didnt mean X X X videos, i just put '#*$!' meaning i didnt want to give away the niche of my website, like the subject for the videos and website. I meant putting videos embedded from youtube onto my site, some have been put on from the origional copyright holders but then still am i able to embed these onto my site without permission and will it effect my adsense terms and conditions also b) some are not from the origional content holders

If the youtube account allows embedding you have the right to embed the video anywhere. I have been embedding videos, some mine, some not, for many years.

If you think the youtube account is violating copyright I wouldn't embed those videos. It might still be fine but that would worry me. Other videos without issues are just fine.

Google likes when you promote YouTube.
