I've just received one of those "There's space for more AdSense earnings on..." emails.

It now says "You can place up to 3 content units per content-rich page" (I cannot recall "content-rich" being in there in the past).

Anyway, one of their suggestions is to add units to a page that contains weapons.

According to their own policies [support.google.com...]

Sales of weapons or ammunition (e.g. firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns)

What are you trying to go Google ? Get me banned ?

(Note to self : Never listen to Google advice).

Imagine if popular corporations like WalMart operated in this manner. It is like the Sporting Goods section telling you that you can use their cash register to ring up all of your goods rather than walking back to the front of the store and waiting in line.

So you pay for all your items at the sporting goods section and then leave through the backdoor. Then WalMart security stops you right in the parking lot and tells you that the sporting goods section manager should only be listened to SOMETIMES...and then they call the cops and you are promptly BANNED from stepping foot in any WalMart ever again. The kicker is then somehow all of this chaos and zero clarity going on is stated as "encouraging consumer/user-friendliness" as well. What?

When should the sporting goods manager (adsense team) be listened to? Oh you know, just on some of their advice if it makes sense to WalMart (Google web spam), all behind the scenes and behind closed doors...

That email is just something they spit out. Individually, they have no idea what our sites are about, or who we are. All they look at is numbers.

Then it was a pretty poor choice of theirs, as the URL does mention what is on the page. And there were plenty of other URLs they could have given.

No hand biting here. ;) The WebmasterWorld AdSense Forum [webmasterworld.com] is probably the leading source of useful feedback that Google receives for improving the program.
