Blog not displaying relevant ads.

Well folks, I get about 600 hits a day on my blog, yet I make about $0.30 a day...no one seems to be clicking anything. I have ads all in the right places (header, and two sidebar ads) and the content is good (all hand written tutorials, around 500 words, updated 3 times a week).

I think the problem has to do with my ad relevancy. The blog is about music production, but NONE of the ads are music related (they're mostly coupons for totally irrelevant things).

I would assume with that much traffic, I could pull in a bit more than $.30 a day...it's been stuck there for about the past year almost.

And yes, I have relevant keywords in all of my articles and have been using the Adsense Section Targetting Blocks.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Two suggestions...

1: Split the page into smaller pages. They are rather long.
2: Check your site out in IE6 and above. Your site is okay in Firefox, but in IE6 two of your adsense blocks are not appearing where you think they are. They are pushed way down the page out of sight. I haven't looked at it in a IE browser above IE6.

One a side note, you are supposed to have a privacy policy. The link does not work.

Do your tutorials discuss in depth and specifically the tools needed for music production? Tutorials can be a great match for AdSense, but it helps if the content is focused on the tools needed to complete the job. Telling people how to do things and then discussing the tools needed to do them works in both affiliate work and AdSense.

Take a look who is advertising and how many ads are being shown in order to get an idea what direction your content needs to go in order to improve AdSense performance.

Good luck.

Well one thing that I didn't see mentioned was about interest-based ads - meaning that the ad revelancy may have to do with where your traffic is coming from - meaning if they are coming from a non-music related site they may be seeing ads relating to the site that they have come from and not seeing ads based on your site's content.

That's a good suggestion but it might not be applicable to this specific situation. The OP states that he sees that his ads are not music related. He does not state that the ads are relevant to previous sites he has visited. So it's possible the issue may be a lack of inventory due to the focus of the content. I think the site should be showing relevant ads and that it should be generating significantly more revenue.

I have seen other factors that dramatically affect revenues, but they may not be applicable here though it's a good idea to check. Last summer I reviewed someone's site because it was earning zero per month. They had a popular WP Plugin for AdSense that was inserting someone else's publisher code. I think it does that by default and it's up to the person installing it to change the default.

Perhaps something the OP should do is either review the publisher codes on the site to see if there is an error in there or generate brand new codes and replace the old ones.

Another longshot. Check the control panel filters to make sure you're not accidentally blocking your own site by not including it on a list of allowed sites, that kind of thing.

Good luck.

I have found it difficult to keep ads on topic in a music site. Mention gigs in a city and you get swamped with city related ads from plumbers to escorts.
