Can we have Optimized ads ?

I have a travel related website which includes also subcategories like local recipes /history / traditional products / ect ..
I have added adsense ads in the subcategories but they are all travel related nothing to do with the subject of the page that they are appearing.
Is there a way to have more optimized ads in those pages ?

1. How long has it been since you added these subcategories?

2. How do you know what ads your visitors are getting when they visit?

Have you looked into section targetting?
Pick out some text on the page that talls about exactly what you want ads to show for and wrap the appropriate tags around it
