This has never happened before, my friend's image was featured in bing's search which got him about 4000+ page impressions in 12 hours but his adsense acount shows less than 5 clicks for that many impression. Statcounter on the other hand shows more than a 100 clicks as googleads.doubleclick.net on the exit links activity. That means his ads were clicked a lot more times than 5. What is Google upto now? Is this some kind of bug?

Immediate reply will be apprecieated. Has this happened to anyone before?

Any chances that those excluded clicks are for link units?
Since they do not pay for the first click on the page (yet, Stat counter records them as clicks on googleads.doubleclick.net)

For link units the visitor needs to click twice, statcounter doesn't see that second click (if any).

Funny thing is that I can see when someone clicks an ad multiple times in a row (sometimes even six or more times) and adsense doesn't records these 'false' clicks, this I am at peace with.
But, with the skyscraper and rectangle ad format, statcounter records the click but adsense not. Happens daily. And this is strange as these look like totally valid clicks (to me)..

I'm convinced that sometimes it takes AdSense a while to decide that clicks are valid, even as much as a day. I have Statcounter on a handful of sites, and the stats never match up.

Probably nothing. Try giving it a few days to sort out, like netmeg suggests. Don't be surprised if G decides a share of those Statcounter "clicks" were invalid, and they never show up.

Sudden spikes like that are quite likely to raise red flags. I imagine they're just trying to sort it all out.

Move on from it. It's days are over.

Its been a couple of years for our spanish site, we have 500 uniques daily, no units as ads, only skyscreaper and 468x60. Statcounter shows 30 exits on the average, Google counts 5-7 with a very low 1-2cent ppc. The main traffic comes from latin america and 30% from Spain. This type of traffic has no value for G so, those ads are useless there.
