The top two ads on my site are invariably showing a small lightbulb next to the title. Interesting to see what this will do to CTR!

It's not new. I've been seeing these for a while now. They call them featured ads.

I think you meant a star instead of light bulb if you are referring to Google's Featured Ads. It's Google's way of improving the user search experience by giving them what they are searching for. This may help to increase the CTR and adsense revenue.
