Is it worthwhile implementing the new Adsense for Search?

I am using the previous version but I can't detect what has improved in the latest version.

The problem is 99% don't use a search box, I like site search but I can't figure out why only 1% of website visitors are submitting a search query.

Same problem here. I implemented a possibility to add my search definition to the search vendor list of the browser

About 5 times this month, the XML definition was used

I average 8-10% CTR with search. It's about the same CTR when I used the old code.

I suggest you use the new code

Care to expand on that statement a bit? Why is it important to change to the new code?

Ditto to that. I think it is worse, because I can't make it display like the old code, with the "search this site option". Plus, search income is less than 1/3 of 1% for me. It is there only for visitor convenience - certainly not for the revenue.
And no, I cannot perceive any change for the better. So why the push?

I had decided AdSense for Search wasn't worth the effort a couple of years ago. But recently I started putting search boxes on a few key pages and I've been surprised at the number of searches being performed and the CTR is about twice what it is with AdSense for Content.

Search has a lot of options for publishers when setting it up, so it's probably a good idea to test different variations on your own sites.

Google has had that label about Search being "Improved" for so long it's not easy to know if there are new new improvements or old new improvements.

But FWIW, I can set it up as a "Search this Site" feature.

Maybe that speaks highly of your site information architecture. With good enough info architecture site search may not be needed.

I tried for about an hour to get the two radio buttons, "Internet" and "This Site" to display like the old code, but I could never get it to work, so I gave up. The OLD CODE works fine, just the way I want it. Because precious little income is involved, who cares? Not me.
