December & Last Quarter 2009 Earnings - Up/Down?

My 2,000th post therefore I had better write something sensible and meaningful - hopefully.

My guesstimation for December 2008 earnings was so far wrong I think I've turned into a government!

Not only was I more than double my guesstimate, I was another 8% over my usual monthly mininum target and that's just in Sterling. If I compare December 2009 to December 2008 I was nearly 8% up in Sterling but 27.5% up in US Dollar values.

The last three months of 2009 have been, within a whisker, the same as 2008 which, according to my AdSense metrics, shows a stabilising of earnings that had been going down gradually through 2008 into 2009 bottoming out in May 2009 with an increase every month since June 2009.

Does this mean we've now come through the worst of it all? To me a seven month upwards trend with an improvement every month is pretty significant compared to the month-on-month declines I had been experiencing.

Is anyone else seeing similar positive figures?

Pretty much the same here. Up a smidgen on the quarterly numbers, but 17% ahead comparing Dec '09 vs Dec '08.

I've had the feeling things have been trending up for a few months, except for October. For some reason Oct '08 was a massive record month at a time when people were screaming the sky is falling.

I am up 16% (Dec 08 vs Dec 09), so a happy camper here.

Mine is down...
the traffic also going down...

I have made many changes to my website, including changing the structure of the site to make it more user friendly and easy to navigate. Maybe this has caused the slow down in traffic. Not quite sure of the real reason. But i hope it will recover soon.

Happy new year to all. :)

We've seen a stead increase in revenues year to year since we started with the program back in 2003.

Dec. 08 to Dec. 09 we saw a increase of around 50% in Adsense revenues.

Q4 '09 was my best quarter yet. Overall I do better every year with AdSense, but I don't "sit still" in regards to the sites. I keep adding content, building new sites, experimenting with ads, etc.

Q4 09 versus Q4 08... impressions up 13.7%, earnings up 13.6%. Dec 09 versus Dec 09... impressions up 13.1%, earnings up 34.2%.

I give much credit of that to a new prominent ad block (300x250) added to my largest site back in October.

Well I have this local tax that I have to pay quarterly on my income so I have to keep pretty records about my Adsense earnings and I can say that my earnings are down by 20%. During December 09 almost everything "tanked"! The good news is that I'm earning more per click because I'm using more higher-paying keywords so that just means that I have to build up my site traffic more.

Earnings down 60% Dec to Dec and CTR down 70% with essentially no changes to site other than 6% more pages. Page views about the same

December 2008 was truly crappy for me, so in comparison December 2009 was a stellar month!

Fourth Quarter 2009 up about 14.5% from Fourth Quarter 2008.

December 2009 up also about 14.5% from December 2008.

I'm very pleased with those figures. When so many people have lost wages in this past year, to have gone up any amount is a great thing!~

Websites: same number + 1 new site this year
Traffic: up, more than previous year

Adsense:
December 2009 compared to 2008: 4.79% more
Last Quarter 2009 comp to 2008: 10.03% up
Complete 2009 compared to 2008: 8.8% more

In my own words: Lots of more work, more traffic across all my websites and one new site with consistent traffic added to the family, and only 8.8% up. The performance was not the expected but the extra work compensates.

This was our sixth December with Adsense.

1. December 2009 was my highest earning month since November 2005
2. December 2009 was my highest earning month of 2009, very unusual
3. My highest day in history was in December 2009
4. December 2009 earnings were more than double December 2008 earnings.
5. December 2009 earnings were more than 50% of December 2007 earnings.
6. December 2009 earnings were 62% higher than December 2006 earnings.
7. December 2009 earnings were 5.5% higher than December 2005 earnings.
8. The expected earnings crash on December 20-21 we have come to expect every year, never materialized AND we are earning more in January so far than we have in any January in our past.
9. At the rate we are going this month, our projected earnings for January 2010 will be back at November 2005 levels. (November 2005 was our third highest month of Adsense, just under Sep and Oct 2005.)
10. CTR is steady with past years
11. Traffic is up about 20%
12. CPC is up significantly over more recent years.

Recession? What recession?
