Anyone RECENTLY tried Adsense Optimization?

I searched on WebmasterWorld and found a few old posts regarding Google Adsense Optimization. Has anyone done this recently? Were you pleased with the outcome, or displeased? (Or did you just ignore the invite)

P.S. I am assuming it is a SPAM email - but a VERY personalized one.. I plan to ignore it I believe. Wrote to google about it.

I had one [genuine] back in 2006 and agreed. Got back a boiler plate generic answer which I'd never consider.

Yes, I recently received a legit offer from Google to try this. I did. Meh. There was nothing earth shattering about it. Decent advice, but nothing that you wouldn't find here.

Both myself and a colleague of mine received the invitation, accepted (a couple of months ago), and were both sent an almost exact copy of the "recommendations". The screen shots were also a joke. Don't waste your time, you'd get better advice here.

I received it a couple of months ago and frankly I was afraid it would mess me up, so I did not take advantage of it. Glad to see I did not miss much!

I was contacted earlier this year and implemented some of their suggestions. It did not result in any real increase in revenue. Mostly it was "stick more ads here and here" and in the end I would up going back to basically what I had before, just with slight changes. If I was you I'd take them up on the offer but don't have high expectations and remember you're the boss when it comes to ad placement :-)

I doubt there is much in the line of "AdSense optimization" for most sites that can't be found right here in this forum.

And frankly I think you'll get better answers and guidance here.

After all, here you get advice from a publishers perspective.

I got the offer.

And I told the analyst in no uncertain terms that I disagreed with his suggestions and couldn't possibly see how his suggestions would improve anything.

He was polite and asked me to just implement it on one of our sites, just to disprove his suggestion.

So I did.

It doubled the site's income within a couple of days. (It's stayed there since then.) I spent the next couple of days changing formats. :)

It may not work for you, so keep a backup of your site(s) just in case, but I don't think it doesn't hurt to listen to what they say and decide for yourself.

The analyst agreed with a lot of what we had on the site already. She made two recommendations (options) and the one we tried brought in an extra 10% per month.

We actually never implemented a second suggestion. Maybe we'll do it this weekend. Overall, we were VERY happy with the service we received.
