Placement targeted ads are showing in my ad review centre that are completely irrelevant to my site, as well as a number of scams (typically work from home and paid surveys).

The scammers presumably simply want to show their ads anywhere they can. What about those with irrelevant ads? I assume that they are placement targeting as many sites as possible. What do they get out of it? Are other people seeing the same.

By irrelevant I mean completely irrelevant to the topics on my site, and with quite a few in foreign languages.

I've just blocked 2 site targetting ads, both in Spanish, one - IQ test, another - mobile content. I suppose that cost of clicks is very high so these adss are often shown for visitors but because they never click spamers have a lot of traffic for nothing. However after removing I do get some clicks every day from the same channel & pages.

Funny this should be mentioned today. I just blocked a totally unrelated "make home from home" advert from my site. Google preview tool never picked it up either.

And, I have never looked up such things in google etc., so it cannot be this new thing where they follow you from site to site.

I thought it wasn't being released until April 8th?

Moreover if it was nobody can opt out of showing targetting ads, only opt out of letting Google to target your visitors interests
