My server was down a few hours so I switched servers but my adsense stats have not been updating since the transfer. Is it just me or the stats are not really updating?

My stats were not updating, but now I'm not able to login to adsense at all. G is giving a server error.

What sort of bothers me about publishing for this giant is that any other decent program would have contacted its publishers either through e-mail or a news box on the site to let them know what's going on.

To me it seems Google keeps us as much in the dark as possible.

I just saw a message that said it was temporarily down for system maintenance.

This is one of the things that really annoys me about Google. Not the reporting delay itself but their response - or lack thereof. It seems that Google's overriding desire to keep their inner workings secret prevents them from basic communication.

If I ran a company and heard that many of my business partners were frequently left high and dry like this without even a courtesy message then heads would roll.

How hard would it have been to put a message on the login page last night saying: "Reporting will be delayed until xx/xx/xx due to routine maintenance. All clicks will be recorded during this time and your account correctly credited. We apologise for any inconvenience."

If Google is gonna survive in the big bad post-IPO world then they need to get their public relations working better.

Atlast got some adsense stat updates for today. My guess is adsense is lagging atleast by 8 hours for me, may be more for others.

I logged on to see if others were experiencing the same issue. I had gotten kinda spoiled with the rapid updating these last few weeks. I could nearly predict my daily totals by 11:00 AM.

So, my first thought this morning was "OH NO!" I quickly checked yesterdays stats, my current logs and found the only thing to be lacking is Google's reporting. Kinda like a step back in time to a month or so ago, when updates wouldn't finalize until the middle of the next morning.

I know that Google's attention is turned to other things today (looks like there's some rapid crawls going on to update their serps).

I don't normally get too excited about these things, but Google recently hit me with a penalty on another site, so that's the first thing that popped into my mind.

Hi,

I'm getting reasonable-looking numbers and have been for a few hours now. May depend which of their servers you get to. I am in the UK.

Mentat:

You're dead right. I for one hadn't even thought of looking there.

If Google can put a similar message on the main stats page - the one the vast majority of people use most of the time - then I'll be a lot happier.

PS: In the UK, my stats are currently looking to be about 12 hours behind.

I had several bad days in a row before this started happening. Today my earnings numbers are through the roof.

I'd be happy if Google did this every day : )

I've been checking all day, and every time I checked, it was obvious that AS was way behind in delivering today's results. But I just checked again, and it looks as though it's caught up. 8:28 PM on the West Coast.

Our stats (Europe) haven't been updated in 24 hours or so which is quite annoying. They seem to be stuck halfway yesterday.

Updating once per day is fine, but what about informung customers about such a change?

I've got stats from yesterday, but they stink. Traffic was way, way down, the worst I've had on a Saturday (usually my worst day of the week) this month. The total was about one-third of an average weekday. The CTR was better than my average rate. The CPM was one-third or less of what I normally get. the dollar amount was about 10-15% of normal.

I can't help wondering:

Did G do something to change the serps?

Or was this just a crappy day?

Or did AS change the ads being served to lower-paying ones?

Or all of the above?

BTW today ain't looking any better?

Any ideas guys?

There are 2 issues here:

1. Delay in reporting, and
2. Less traffic across the board.

I don't know about the cause of the delay (I can't speak for Google) but, I know who causes the loss of traffic, and her name is Jeanne. Hurricane Jeanne. Every time there's a major storm (Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, Ivan and now Jeanne) web traffic goes straight down. People are glued to their TV's, plus 9 million people in Florida are doing ANYTHING but clicking adsense ads. Test it. Go back and look at your web logs and see if I'm not right.

This certainly holds true for a certain demographic, but many many sites will be completely unaffected, due to their own demographic...

My stats are finally starting to catch up, and it looks as if yesterday was a record earnings day for all of my sites. I can't complain about that, but still have a problem with being left in the dark.

Adsense stats are notoriously unreliable as far as timeliness goes.

It seems like most of the time they run a few hours behind, but they can and have run as much as 48 hours behind at times, sometimes for several days in a row.

And as this thread shows, not everyone is affected the same way.

Annoying? Yes, but that seems to be the way it works.

Stats are updating now but they are way down.

@Noel: also in the Netherlands here.

@Born_User: not every site depends on Florida based trafic...
