For the last one week, the number of times PSAs show up on pages which were displaying properly targeted ads has shot up. Also, more default ads for the site are being displayed when PSAs are not, only to revert back to proper ads in a while. What is going on? Is this normal adsense behavior?

I also have been noticing lots of random PSAs for sites that have over 50 ads available.

I'm running at 20% PSA's today. None in the last 2 weeks.

Unwarranted PSA's seem to be more and more common as time goes by. I have seen that trend for many months and it appears to be getting worse, not better.

Many times we spend hrs nicely targeting the page with relevant content and good metatags and get very happy to see relevant ads finally. However, a short time later they are once again gone and the PSA's are back.

The occasional poor targeting is incredibly annoying and disturbing. However, overall Google's targeting is good and G is great and we are very happy with Adsense in general and their good support.

You are backfilling using one of the Adsense alternatives, right? This will take some of the pain out of the PSAs.

I noticed the same with the PSA's. It goes in stretches.

For me it was bad on new pages from Friday through Monday (4 days) but then improved yesterday and today (returned to the normal good targeting and display).

It's obvious Google has some capacity problems over at the 'Plex since allowing 3 ads per page. Poor servers must be crapping the bed at times. :)

Since last Friday (the magic day), all my stats have been off by 50% despite no obvious change in web traffic, SERPS, etc. I guess lots and lots of PSA's would explain that...
