Requesting Google make a site review

General question about Adsense

I'm new here, and thought I'd jump right in with a couple of questions.

My site isn't live yet, but it will feature content I will write myself, and would like to include inline text advertising by Kontera or one of the others. Google's policy is to forbid ads that look like theirs, so do you think they would have an issue with the billboard mode?

Second question: Has anybody ever requested that Google visit their site for a review to see that it falls within the guidelines? I mean this as a voluntary measure - without ever receive a warning letter.

It's odd to me that Google doesn't have inline advertising as well. Their mini modules are very nice, and it seems like they're making an effort to diversify.

Great forum, btw. I'm learning a lot hanging out and reading.

I doubt they would do this, but you can try. They can't even answer individual emails due to the volume they receive (or so they claim) Manual reviews like that wouldn't scale very well, considering how many publishers there are in the program.

I don't know what you mean by the billboard mode. They just say the ads can't look like Google ads, so whatever color/border scheme you have set up for your AdSense, make sure any other ads have a different one.

Billboard is their graphic/text combination, and it's fast loading and attractive.

So you're saying that each case is different, and you can run whatever you like (almost) as long as the ads from the other network can be differentiated from Goggle's?

I hope you all realize their market dominance is temporary, and they will enter a phase of decline like AOL and Microsoft are in now.

Sure, and we'll all die someday, too. Only diamonds are forever. :-)

Speaking from personal experience, this would be a BIG MISTAKE.

If you really want to do this, copy your website onto a free site or into a subdirectory of another domain that you do not plan to use with Adsense. Let them review it from there.

I guess you're saying that flagging them is a bad idea, and I should just get the payments and not draw attention to myself.

My site will have wholesome content within their TOS, but I was worried about the inline ads mostly.

try just asking them about the OK on the inline ads rather than having them look at your site.
