Using AdSense on a development server

Will this get me into trouble with Google?

My personal website is a .com TLD. My development server is the same domain name but a .net TLD. It's also firewalled from access via the Internet.

Using my development server I'm working on a new version of my website that has AdSense on many of the pages.

Based on your experience do you think the ads will be served? If so will I get in trouble?

Thanks.

Won't be a problem at all unless you click your ads. I'm sure Google understands that AdSense users have varying degrees of backend systems and have alloted for impressions that are done during testing, etc.

To be blunk - we have 2 backend servers that draw AdSense impressions and have never got Google grief.

Bear in mind that the ads on your dev servers may be different that your final .com URL

Thanks Mike. I was hoping someone who had some experience with such things would provide an answer. I feel better about proceeding with my development now.

Everyone who puts ads in the first time or changes something will run them on something else but the production server.

Happens all the time, don't worry.

Thanks.

I'm finding all I get are PSAs but at least it fills up the space allocated to AdSense and makes everything look like it should.

So far no threatening e-mails from Google.

You can put the adsense server in you hostfile and redirect it to localhost.
