Hi guys,

On March 25 I've contacted Google to change the payee name for the account. They did it just the same day. Now, on 6th May, the check was delivered to old payee and old address, but I remember that I've changed the delivery address in 25th Mar as well.

The problem is that old payee is my former partner and our relationships are not good (to say the least). Now he has the check with my money, what can I do return it back to me so he won't be able to cash the check?

Thanks
Fred

I once had asked google to change my name to include my middle initial on the check to match my name on my id. Initially, they asked me to create a new account but decided that they just insert the initial and no need to create a new account. In your case, you are requesting to have the complete payee name changed. I'm surprised google allowed this and not ask you to create a new account instead.

As for the check, If it's encashed already, there's not much you can do about it but maybe legal. You should also contact google and try to put a stop on the check.

There's probably not much you can do short of trying to recover it from your former partner.

Yikes. Tough one. I can't see Google holding that check as the payee was who they had in the system and was paying the whole time. Sounds like you will have to work it out with the partner and then get it changed for the next cycle. You will have to enter new SS#, taxid# also. If you didn't do that, then the payee was never changed for sure. Google needs verifications. Not just name change.

They would have a record of the change, plus the correspondence related to it. If they determine that it's their fault, they might be willing to put a stop on the check and re-issue it.

But there are still questions about this... Was it literally made out in his name (as opposed to a company name)? If so, how is it that you were able to change the account to YOUR name? And is it possible he saw the change and had Google change it back? Anyway, it seems like it would have been safer to start over with a separate account.

I once changed mine to my company name, since I incorporated two years ago.
I thought, they were going to ask me to open another account, but instead, they replaced my name with my company name, now my personal name is nowhere in the adsense account.
I think that was not correct, but they did it for me/to me.
