Hi all, as you have read from my previous posts I have been smart priced, and by reading your replies it seems that it's set on the account not the website :(

I am looking to launch a few new, high qualit websites that I have extremeley high hopes for however I would like to do it in a new adsense account.

My current adsense account is in my girlfriends name, not mine - however we both live at the same address - my question is, If i open a new account with under my name and the same address will this catch on and both accounts get terminated?

Thanks for any help :)

my last reply wasn't that clear.
You can both have an account at the same address.
Google may notice the address, but that will only be part of their decision.

Sorry, forgot to leave this question out:
If one adsense account becomes suspended - would this result in the other one being suspended also?

If the account you are currently using is in your girlfriend's name, then it's not your account.

If you are on the up and up, then contact adsense-support@google.com and ask them, letting them know that the name and taxpayer number will be yours but the address will be the same as your girlfriend's account and that you will continue to log in to her account even though you hope they will approve a separate account in your name.

If you're sure you've been smartpriced, you might consider changing your existing account to a high quality site also. If you think it's already a high quality site, then you have to consider that the new sites will be smartpriced just like the existing account.

You also need to consider that many people before you have probably had the same idea to "start fresh" with an account in a different name in an attempt to defeat what they perceive as smartpricing. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that two accounts at the same address, even with two different names, would get special ongoing scrutiny.

Ouch! You very well may have a problem much more serious than what Google thinks of a second account. And I'm 95% serious about that - only 5% kidding.

I guess we haven't had a "Loose Lips Sink Ships" type thread in a while.

Definitely talk to Google BEFORE opening a new account. Get it all squared away first.

Insofar as G is concerned even a married couple living at same address can have two different accounts. What they need are two separate SS#. That is the only thing legally required by IRS.

Thanks for the help guys, the SS# doesn't apply to me as I'm in the UK :)

This thread got me to thinking. There have been a number of threads here where a guy mentioned sharing some aspect of his AdSense account with his girlfriend. Yet I don't ever remember a woman saying she shared aspects of her account with her boyfriend.

Are the women just smarter than us men?

Farmboy, my man is computer illiterate beyond the teensy amount he might have to do at work and he has no interest whatsoever in the internet. He is one of those who thinks that all I have to do is push a button and the answer to a question magically appears. Ah, if it were all just that simple...

If he were to have an account guess who would actually be doing all the work on it all? May as well just keep it mine and only mine.

I once asked my girl friend if she wanted an account, and was willing to share some of the income with me, but she refused to do it. That could be a good thing, as a long term relationship might broken over a few measly dollars if a dispute comes up.

Oh, you mean it doesn't?

Here we go again. There is no country outside of the US of A, there is no political system other than democracy, there is no currency other than the US dollar. You don't need a Social Security (that's presumably what you mean by SS - explained here as the rest of the world may not understand this "SS" number that a small minority use).

As has been pointed out, two individuals living at the same address can have different Adsense accounts. You could have more Adsense accounts than you have individuals living at an address by the simple expedient of creating a limited liability company e.g. an LTD or PLC. As such a company is a legal entity in its own right, it is entitled to its own Adsense account within the current Google rules and TOS.

Yep.

But as to the original question - here's the thing. I'm sure there's no problem if you and your girlfriend each have an AdSense account.

HOWEVER (and this is the biggie) if you try to do something like switch a particular site or domain from one account to the other, I would be willing to bet that that sort of behavior will set off alarm bells for Google, because that's the sort of thing that people who have multiple accounts have done in the past. And given the scale on which they operate, I wouldn't expect them to necessarily give you the benefit of the doubt.

So, if you do start your own account, make sure you start with fresh sites and/or domains as well; don't move anything from one account to the other.

Just my opinion.
