Do you make your channels targettable?

I was just curious how many medium-large publishers make there custom channels targettable for advertisers.

We have always opted out of this but we are debating enabling it. Has anyone found substantial success enabling channels to be seen by advertisers?

I don't make channels targetable. Be intersting to see what others say though.

[But I'm not sure what you mean by "medium-large publishers", so maybe your question doesn't apply to me anyhow.]

I guess I fall into the "medium" category, and yes, I do allow targeting of CPM text ads by channel. (And why not? Some channel topics lend themselves to targeted ads.)

Yes... I make my channels targetable, but I'm probably not considered a "medium-large" publisher by Google.

Targeting a specific channel can mean better ads.

also changing the name every now and then can reset smart pricing ... if my earning get to low for a channel I change the name and the earnings shoot back up.

I've been testing this, with some targetable, some not.

So far (3 months) I haven't noticed a specific difference. Some have performed well, and some stink.

We've had targettable channels for awhile now, and have just turned them off to test. So far, it seems to have affected revenue slightly negatively. Since our site has so many different sections, it's likely that some advertisers were using them. It'll probably take time for the advertisers to adjust.

yes, i have targettable channels since a few months.
and no, i didn't notice any substantial success.

actually, i've tried hard to word some nice relevant concise descriptions for every channel. to no avail yet. it's the same as onsite-advertiser-signup or google referrals. well-meant, but no penetrating power. but it doesn't hurt either, so..

Thanks for your input fellas, it would seem from the majority of answers here that setting it up really didnt make much of a difference to the bottomline.

I wanted to get a feel from some of you before we spent several days writing up detailed information for hundreds of channels.

You all just saved us quite a bit of time, thanks!
