I just got this message in my AdSense account under AdSense Setup => Allowed Sites. Pay attention that most of them are Google sites or domains ad Google IPs of displaying my ads and only a couple are like Geocities or other. Have you any idea how and why?

Unauthorized Sites

The following sites are not on your Allowed Sites list but have displayed ads using your AdSense publisher ID within the last week.

Anytime somebody looks at Google cache it will run load your Adsense on the Google site, or at least that's how I think it works.

Google should have automatically added all their google owned IPs and property to the 'approved' list of sites for all publishers.

However, they have not done this and I suggested they should so publishers do not end up filling up their allowed sites list with 100s of google IPs and domains etc.

OK, that makes sense for Google, but what about the 20 or so OTHER sites I see? I can't imagine there are that many stupid sites which copied our code and actually have visitors. Most of them appear to be small search engine wannabes, but the one that I see most consistently I can't even get to respond with a valid web page and appears to be some sort of Adsense clone, but not one I've ever heard of.

I agree and am surprised that Google did not do it. What I still do not understand is this:

"! There are unauthorized sites that have displayed ads using your AdSense publisher ID within the last week. Please click here to view them."

How come those unauthorized sites are mostly Google's own or Geocities?
Also ixquick.com and vdu.lt (the latter one was for some unknown reason deleted by the moderator).

WTH?
