As soon as I added Adsense to my forums, my CPM dropped to 0.50 and now to 0.05.

I know more page views lead to lower CPM (my page views shot up, from about 4,000 a day to some 12,000)

But come on, I am not the only one who has adsense on their forums. I mean I am not committing a crime by posting them on forums?

and why am i not getting paid for page views? I thought you do!

the only reason i added adsense to the forums, is to get revneue from ad views, not only clicks. but tit has been a disaster so far, last few days.

someone help please.

Most AdSense ads are PPC (pay per click) not CPM (pay per view model). Forums usually have very low click through rates.

If you are interested in CPM advertising, take a look at other banner networks. But you'll probably run into the same issue- since forums generally don't convert well for most advertisers, CPM rates will be lower for forums than other sections.

You will only get paid for ad views if an advertiser specifically targets you for site targeting.

Forums typically don't perform very well with AdSense, from what I understand.

rename your channel that has to do with the ads in question ... it will sometimes shock AdSense back to normal.

Thanks a lot guys, very interesting replies, a lot of which I didn't know.

-Is it true that renaming a channel is enough to give it a shock boost?
-How can you appeal to advertisers so they can choose you to advertise with CPM only?

Thanks

It sounds as credible as many of the other theories.

-How can you appeal to advertisers so they can choose you to advertise with CPM only?

I believe you'll find something in the TOS about publishers not contacting advertisers.

I once beat you. I saw 0.04 on one of my channels a while back. I tried that "rename your channel" trick, but it did not help me.

CPM .04 nd .05? I think I would shut my website down and go mow lawns or something else more profitable....

That's too low. Forums usually go like that.

It was 0.02 yesterday. 2 years ago, it was at 0.45.

I have removed adsense for good.

We don't do CPM, but even with PPC, I'm convinced that Adsense channels can enter a death spiral, regardless of the type of site involved. If the Adsense algo experiments with too many new advertisers that have lousy click through, often MFAs, it drags down the eCPM of the channel. Then their algo becomes convinced that it's not prime real estate, and only tries other low paying ads that don't match as well and also have lousy click through, and the process repeats until the page truly becomes worthless, from the Adsense perspective.

I'm guessing that sites with high traffic don'thave this problem, because the experimental ads never amount to a large enough fraction of page views to matter. But channels on smaller sites can get killed almost at random. I also don't think Adsense sees it as a problem because in the aggregate, they see their share doing fine, it's just some random smaller low or medium traffic sites that fall by thw wayside.

I see some of you mention 'high traffic'

I could easily bump my traffic (where Adsense is displayed that is) to some 25,000 page views per day.

Is that high enough?

But like some of you already argued, the higher the page views, the less the CPM.
