First question,
If I have a blog can I post (embed) Youtube videos on my blog and also put Google Adsense on it? Someone emailed me that it is not allowed so I took off my Adsense but I happened to browse over to Squidoo and I Youtube videos on some pages and Google Adsense on them also.
Second Question,
I'm concerned when first testing and creating a website that when I place the Google Adsense on the site and then go to the site to see how everything looks I am creating page impressions that Google might deem illegal. Sometimes I do quite a bit of testing to get things right. Do you have to be careful when creating a website or blog that page impressions from the same IP address will get you banned by Google even if you are just testing to get things right?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Mark
You should however take very careful note of the following for the adsense TOS:
"In order to ensure a good experience for users and advertisers, publishers may not request that users click the ads on their sites or rely on deceptive implementation methods to obtain clicks. Publishers participating in the AdSense program:
# May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
# May not place misleading images alongside individual ads"
and:
"Website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with content protected by copyright law unless they have the necessary legal rights to display that content"
and this from the youtube TOS:
"D. You agree not to use the Website, including the YouTube Embeddable Player for any commercial use, without the prior written authorization of YouTube. Prohibited commercial uses include any of the following actions taken without YouTube's express approval:
# sale of access to the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable Player) on another website;
# use of the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable Player), for the primary purpose of gaining advertising or subscription revenue;
# the sale of advertising, on the YouTube website or any third-party website, targeted to the content of specific User Submissions or YouTube content;
# and any use of the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable player) that YouTube finds, in its sole discretion, to use YouTube's resources or User Submissions with the effect of competing with or displacing the market for YouTube, YouTube content, or its User Submissions."
They sum this up rather nicely in their FAQ:
"What kinds of commercial uses of the YouTube website are prohibited, and which aren't?
We've recently updated our Terms of Use to clarify what kinds of uses of the website and the YouTube Embeddable Player are permitted. We don't want to discourage you from putting the occasional YouTube video in your blog to comment on it or show your readers a video you like, even if you have general purpose ads somewhere on your blog. We will, however, enforce our Terms of Use against, say, a website that does nothing more than aggregate a bunch of embedded YouTube videos and intentionally tries to generate ad revenue from them. "
So, if the videos are an addition to your content, and not the main content, are not copywritted, drawing undue attention to the ads or so close they cause false clicks (because they're near the controls) then you should be ok.
The only thing you'll affect will be the accuracy of your ecpm figures while visitors are very low. When they start picking up your visits won't make much difference anyway.
If this really bothers you turn javascript off in your browser.
Oh the second question I thought Google paid out not just on clicks but on page impressions that's why I was concerned. Thanks for clearing that up.
One last thing. Once in awhile I'll upload and stream a song on my blog using a Wordpress widget that will play the song inside Wordpress. I'll also post the lyrics to the song which I get from a music lyrics site. I list the name of the song and the artist with the lyrics.
Is this a copyright no no? I guess I'd rather take them off if there is any doubt. What do you think?
Thanks agaain,
Mark
How would you feel if someone copied your website, without your permission, to use for their own ends?
Plus unsolicited music coming through your pc's speakers when you visit a site, for many people, is an instant turn-off.
Good luck.
I may have been wrong in which case I will remove the lyrics.
Thanks for your help,
Mark

Literally! Hehe.
Automatic background music is so 1998. I still only see it in old, outdated geocities pages where it says: "last updated: October 10th, 1997" where people still worry about the Y2K bug.
If anyone knows of any sites that are using it, I'd like to see how it works,
Does adsense supply the videos? Or are these videos you've already created and posted on utube?
And - if adsense does supply the videos, are they targeted like the ads? ie if you have a site on widgets, can you tell adsense you want only widget related vedeos, and adsense will display them?
Thanks
