Following their success in the U.S., we're rolling out video units over the next several days to English-language publishers in the UK, Ireland, and Canada. If you're not already familiar with video units, they're embedded, customizable video players that can enrich your site with relevant video content while enabling you to earn extra revenue from the relevant, non-intrusive ads that accompany the videos.
Video Ad Units Coming to UK, Ireland And Canada [adsense.blogspot.com]
Very nice. I love the video ads!
But hey, it doesn't prove anything ;).
I was equally excited about 10 years ago when I first saw a banner ad. That level of excitement has dramatically diminished within a few days thereafter though. Since then I maybe clicked 10 times (once a year) on a banner ad. 8 times out of 10 I left the destination website within 5 seconds. I never bought anything either. But hey, it doesn't prove anything ;).
Wow! 10 years ago? Hmmmmm...10 years ago I had no idea Google existed nor what a banner ad was.
Well, the level of excitement hasn't died down for me yet. I think having video ads is just such an awesome thing.
Maybe it's cause I'm part of the You Tube generation?
First there was Gen - X
Then Gen - Y
Then the Pepsi Generation.
Finally, Youtube. <-- I think I'm here.
Those video ad units are the ones that resemble You Tube vids, right? =-\
As far as clicking, I don't click much either if at all.
I'm already 'blind' to a lot of online advertising.
Video ads are a strange hybrid, especially when you can't even predict what the video will be. I tried it once but the video content wasn't relevant at all (I don't blame their targeting, the ads were great, I would blame the lack of videos for my topic).
I just don't know what to do with them. Is it a solution in search of a problem?
