Please don't post about putting all one's eggs in one basket:-)
In my area of the East Midlands in the UK anything less than USD 100.00 per day would be unsustainable and realistically needs to be USD 200.00 per day, USD 300.00 per day and one would be a reasonbly good earner.
Incidentally, I expect the London AdSensers may be posting {{{BIG FAT}}} figures to prove just how impoverished us northerners are! And yes, we're still in the north despite what was recently published.
Therefore in your Googletopia world how much would you need to earn, then we can maybe decide where Googletopia is actually going to be situated:-))
I wonder where you can live best on an adsense income of $50 per day?
India would be easy however living in some of the cities is quite overpowering and I have been doing this on a regular basis for 30 years now.
Maybe someone used to London noise & bustle etc wouldn't find it too much of a problem but not me, ouch, I'm always glad to return home to green fields and trees.
OZ and NZ have much lower costs of living and, all round, very desirable places to live and work. I suppose a lot would depend on just how much cold/heat anyone wants to tolerate?
My husky is not too keen on the heat!
Room in shared house: 280/month
Food and beer: 120/month
Travel: 133/month
Misc: 70/month
-------------------
TOTAL: about GBP600 a month That's about 7.2k a year after tax; before tax it would be about 8k (tax is kinder at lower incomes).
Interestingly; GBP600 a month is a nice wage packet here in Kuala Lumpur. I remain unsure why 99% of graduates here don't start themselves up in the web. dev. business and get a management salary almost from the first month...
I wonder where you can live best on an adsense income of $50 per day? (It has to be somewhere with reliable internet connections, obviously...)
South Dakota
We just bought a house here for $15,000
First thing we did is pay off the house. So now even if adsense takes a dive, we can still live comfortably. Everything is cheap here, with lots of peace and quiet. Yep, consider us retired. Thanks Google
It's $17,500 per year, which I believe is a tad above the poverty line, but not by much.
As far as taxes are concerned, if you keep good records and use Schedule C, and use your home (or apartment) as a part of your business, your effective tax rate would approach ZERO. The US government is very business-friendly, something most people who work for a wage do not understand.
Of course, at that rate of earning, you're going nowhere fast. No retirement package, health care, etc. But, no boss, which is half the fun.
3000.00 a month and you're needing to move, fast.
4000.00 a month and you're ok in the mobile home parks with kraft dinner. A room mate is in order.
5000.00 a month and you can own a 2 bedroom, no perks.
6000.00 a month and you'll be able to live paycheck to paycheck.
7500.00 a month and you can buy some toys or invest a little.
Prices are crashing quickly though, they've been too high for too long.
edit: I should have added that within 25 minutes drive time you can cut those numbers in half but need to watch your back and stay indoors after dark.
