Hi all,

Im realtively new to adsense, so bear with me. To find the highest paid advertisers in your market, is it a case of searching for your keywords in google and see who's coming out on top? Cause obviously using my filter i want the highest paid advertisers on my site, also what abt sites like ebay, dealtime, shopping.com etc do you think these are good sites to have or block, any thoughts wud be greatly appreciated, thanks.

you cant filter more than 100 or 200 i dont know how much they allow now in adsense, advertisors are millions, keep this to google, he will choose the most near and the most profitable for your website.

A click on an advertiser's ad on your site might earn 5 cents today and $1.12 tomorrow then back to 20 cents the next day.

I think the bottom line is you don't have much control with AdSense. Spend your time working on your site.

Put up AdSense and if you earn more with it than you can with something else, keep AdSense there. If not, get rid of AdSense.

I'm somewhat of a rookie too, and I too am struggling to maximize my profits. It is equally a struggle to separate the good and bad advice. Some say to block targeted ads, that for some mysterious reason at least a temporary block refreshes earnings. This has not helped my site though the slump I am in could be caused by other factors (some mysterious Google glitch this weekend). Others I have read suggest maximizing CTR by reducing the number of ads on a page. This makes some sense, but again it misses a valid point. On many of my pages I have a banner of Link units which perform poorly and affect my CTR. However, they take virtually no page real estate so their profits are a happy bonus despite reducing my CTR and eCPM. Right now I am experimenting with Keyword optimizing. I have been using [inventory.overture.com...] to check the keywords search engine value.
I don't block many sites unless I feel they are entirely irrelevant. Perhaps I should. Sounds like doing so would be a full time job.
