The ad spaces display "cannot display page" since last night. It's not just my site, either. I've found at least three others that aren't loading the ads.

Even get the main Google.com site won't load. Google news works, though.

The belated Maintenence Notice [webmasterworld.com] says ads will still be displayed during system maintenence, but every site I go to using Adsence currently does not display these ads.

Since early this morning (1am PST) any page using Adsence hangs up and does not load, waiting for page2.googlesyndication.com. Page hits on several sites I manage have declined 75%.

I also cannot connect to any Google address.

I can see AdSense ads and Google using both IE and FF. I checked them out using SBC access as well as AT&T access.

Must be an regional thing.

I've tested in IE and FF, 2 different machines, 2 different ISPs. Nothing from Google works, and any web page using anything from Google is broke.

So what area are you from?

My sites viewed from the UK are fine.

And how come the Adwords people get the ASA saying that reporting will be down for a few hours when they don't post the same in the Adsense forum? Adsense is down for me. Are we the poor relatives or what!

I am also in the western US, and although I did not check my adsense this morning, when I did check after the system was back up and running, both page impressions and clicks were amazingly low. At 1:15 pm they were at levels which I would have expected to see at about 8 am. I kept checking back and as soon as the system was back up and running however, and I could see that I began to accrue page impressions and clicks at a normal rate. The morning's traffic unfortunately just seems to be lost.

I am sure there was some sort of problem, but I have no idea how long it lasted. I am also sure I lost some money, but there is not much I can do about it, so I am not going to get upset.

What works for you doesn't always work for other users. So while I am awake, anything Google does not work for any of my sites, nor search (Dallas, San Diego, Atlanta.)

keyplyr, I'm glad (actually sorry) to hear that it's not just me. I've also seen it on a few sites other than my own. Since Friday evening all AdSense ads fail to load on all my sites. Also, the main Google.com site, iGoogle and various other Google services fail to respond. And, I have not been able to log into Adsense since Friday evening.

I'm in Las Vegas.

UPDATE: The ads came back for about 5 minutes but they're gone again now.

I'm freaking out here. I have no ads showing on any of my sites either since this morning (closest I can figure is a couple of hours ago). All I'm getting is the "Unable to connect" error message in Firefox. Internet Explorer won't even load my pages because it keeps stalling on the Google ads. I've been a completely white hat Adsense publisher since Feb 2005, never had a problem and I received no notification from Google about my account being suspended. WTH is going on?!?

(edit)

Oh yeah and I'm in Montreal, Canada.

The people who can't see Google should try doing some traceroutes to see where its failing and try to ascertain if there's something in common for the people who are failing. It's got to be something like that, as multiple people are having the problem, but the majority of us, myself in Los Angeles included, are seeing Google just fine.

Or, it could be a DNS problem. The people who are failing should try, as a test, to pull up Google using an IP address. (Google has many IPs, but I am seeing 64.233.167.99 and 72.14.207.99 when I ping them right now, they would be good ones to try.)

Unless you can pin it down for them, it's going to hard for Google to try to do something about this, if they don't know what/where is failing, especially in light of the fact that it is working for 99% of the world.

FredW, Not sure what you mean... I can see Google.com fine. I have no issues with that. I just can't get ads to display on my site. What address should I be running through a traceroute?

beggers above said he couldn't see google.com as well as not getting ads.

Try:

ping pagead2.googlesyndication.com
traceroute pagead2.googlesyndication.com

(It's tracert in a Windows DOS box, traceroute in a Mac terminal or Unix.)

When I type pagead2.googlesyndication.com into MSIE, I get a page back that says "Nothing to see here!". When I type its IP address into MSIE (74.125.19.164) I get the Google homepage.

Let us know specifically what's failing, then perhaps others who are also failing can try it too and you all can compare results.

The ads started coming back last night, intermittently. Today everything seems to be back to normal.

There was a network issue across the Mid-West and South-West that lasted pretty much the entire day (announced by ATT and Cox) affecting Google IP addresses to some users which has now been resolved. Would have been nice to get that announcement a little sooner :)

They never do, otherwise they would be swamped with calls asking them when the problem will be fixed.

Just for the record, whatever this network issue is, it has not been completely resolved. Ads reappeared yesterday around noon (not sure what the status was for the rest of the day as I didn't have time to check). But Google ads are down again this morning (for the past two hours [Toronto, Ontario]). Any site I visit that normally has Google ads are all choking when they try to load pagead2.googlesyndication.com --I'm not just talking my sites but others as well and big sites too such as major web analytics sites, article directories and such.

A traceroute to pagead2.googlesyndication.com shows "no response" on the last two hops right before ar-in-f164.google.com

Fortunately, I'm not seeing any impact on my earnings and impressions over the past 24 hours so I guess this is only affecting a small number of users.

A little unnerving nevertheless. I'm visiting my family out of town and I was forced to use my mother's computer to log into my Google account yesterday just to see what was up hence her ip address is now registered in Google as an ip address 'under my control'. So now I'm trying to show my mom what Google ads look like so that she doesn't accidentally click on them if she visits my sites but I can't get Google ads to load anywhere on ANY site. (Grrrr...) A real pain in the posterior...
