Hello,

I know this was discussed many times before, but I must point out my problem and maybe someone can at least give me some pointers in what I'm doing wrong.

I started a new website 1 week ago, reviews and news in a blog-like format. To my amazement my site was indexed by Google in the first day, and after another 24 hours all pages were fully indexed and organic traffic was already pouring in. I am now getting around 500-600 organic visitors daily and in the past 7 days 5600 unique visitors.

Seeing that I'm getting some nice numbers for a fresh site, I decide to implement AdSense. From previous experience I was expecting a CTR around 4%, but after a day of displaying ads, my CTR was 0.63%. I then tried implementing the ads in the middle of the content to no success, CTR 0.50%. I've also tried different colors and corners, again, to no success. Right now I am out of ideas and hope that some of you more experienced can give me some tips.

Thanks in advance.

My tip is to have patience.

1. Your traffic may fall significantly in the near future. If your traffic is indeed certified organic I'd count on it.

2. How's the targeting of the ads? Position isn't going to matter if your blog is about bicycles and you're seeing ads about ring tones. It can take a while before ads reflect your site's content. Then again, if you start trying to game the system they may never be well-targeted.

3. Maybe your audience is too savvy to click the ads. If that's the case you may never be able to increase your CTR.

Thanks for the pointers.

I think it's the fact that my visitors are too savvy. Most of my articles are about new gadgets and technology in general. So, in my view, anyone who is interested and familiar with new gadgets is also familiar with how Google Ads look.

No, I am not trying to game the system and never will. I just want to be able by acceptable terms to increase CTR. In the end, what's the point of showing ads if you're just showing them for nothing?

Again, thanks for the reply. I think I will leave the ads on for a while even if the CTR is low, so the adsense bot can smell my content.

I've actually removed ads from sites because the targeting never improved and my visitors are too savvy. The site is still good and serves many purposes for me professionally. Adsense just didn't work out in this case.

Also, at this time in the year the top advertisers at list on the tech area are not advertising as much, That's every year If your site is about tech stuff such as software ect... you probably getting bad ads right now. Wait for next month you will see things will improve greatly :)

Maybe look into other sources of revenue. Affiliate programs, CPM stuff, etc.

i think you're giving up a bit too easy. you said you only put your site online last week. you can't make a judgement after only 7 days.
