the leaderboard 728x90 earns more
That's a popular format. Another one is the tower placed on the right side.
But on my site, I use the traditional 468x60 image banner at the top and a text block on the left side. The image converts poorly but the text block works well enough. Both are content ads. I think other formats and sizes probably convert better, but that's what fits nicely into my website format.

For me, the 300x250 and the AdLinks 160x90 work really well. The AdLinks are above the fold. The 300x250 is mostly above the fold at 1024x768 or more, and still partially above the fold at 800x600.
