For some time now G made this new feature available: the "Advertise on this site" text link. How many of you use it? Any notable changes in earnings?

I have just added the link to my site, hope it works in terms of earnings... G says that the text link should read "Advertise on this site", but I made a minor modification to fit the design of my site:

"+ Advertise on this Site"

Hope this is ok, does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

Edit: I am wondering... If I have placed this link on my site will the individual ads also show the "Advertise on this site" link?

The Advertise on this Site link only appears on the ads that are in the old format. Where are you finding the option of adding it to your ads?

If the change you made is a modification of the Javascript code, it's against the rules.

Instructions on how to add this link can be found in the Google AdSense help pages. Too bad that the link is not XHTML 1.0 valid... I will have to remove it, darn...

I've wondered about this feature, although I'm kind of leery of it. My guess is that you're only going to get a few dollars per thousand impressions, and my understanding is that you don't get paid for clicks on those ads. So in order to be profitable, they would need to pay more per thousand impressions than you are already getting for the ads they replace.

If I could control which ads are pay-per-impression, I would do it. I know for a fact that the banner ad at the top and center of the pages get less clicks than the text ads on the left side of the page, so I would allow CPA ads in the top and center position. Advertisers would probably prefer that position, anyway.

AdSense has that covered. They will only serve those ads if they pay more than the ads that would otherwise be served. Otherwise, Google would not only be negatively impacting your revenue, but they would be doing the same to themselves.

Unless things have changed, the "Advertise on this site" link doesn't achieve what some people assume it does.

If you have the link on your site and I click on it, Google will be inviting me to open an AdWords account - not inviting me to specifically and/or exclusively advertise on your site.

If I open an AdWords account and start advertising, my ads might show on your site at some point - and they might not.

After an advertiser signs up with AdWords, they can select your site in a site-targeted campaign. Here's more info on that:

[adwords.google.com...]

But the path from an advertiser clicking that link on your site, to actually place ads isn't an easy one. First, advertiser needs to figure out how to set everything up, and that isn't exactly obvious. Next, when the advertiser enters your website name, they also get a list of dozens of sites that are similar to yours. So all-in-all, it's kind of a longshot that an advertiser will click on that link and then actually follow through and advertise on the same site.
