I'm not making this up:

1) March 1 report said total clicks 4, total earnings .06. Then the next day, March 2, the March 1 report said total clicks 2, total earnings .20. I thought I must have misread the reports somewhere along the line. But the same kind of thing happened again on March 13's report which said 1 click, .12 and then the next day the March 13 report said 2 clicks, .04.

2) On another day a total of 1 click, total earnings .04. The epcm was $20.40. ctr 50%, 2 page impressions. As opposed to a couple days after, 2 clicks, .16, ecpm $2.95, ctr 3.77, 53 page impressions. What would cause such a wide variance in earnings between the two? I feel like there's something missing here..

If you've got a possible explanation for 2) I'll really appreciate it. If you've got a possible explanation for 1) I'll pin a medal on you. Thanks.

(I already know my site attracts the cheapest advertisers on the planet so you don't need to point that out. However, even for my low-earning site, March has been particulary penurious).

are you serious? comparing 2 clicks? you need 1000's of clicks to make real comparisons.

Could be some clicks were invalid and so google discounted some of them. Also, keep in mind that adsense reporting is not real time, so what you are seeing is partial report. It settles down at the end of the day or the following day or could be weeks.

Hello!

This figure are normal for very low traffic site.
You can't have realistic figure to analyse when
you have only a few clicks or visitors a day.
You must work to improve your traffic before
going in to a long click analyse.

For myself, I have put adsnse on many section
of my site. The total traffic analyse give
some consistent figure over day and week, but
when I look at the low traffic section, the figure
is very weird. I can have 2-3 consecutives days at
0 clicks and a day with 1-2 click. This look
very weird for a 5 pages views section, but when I
compare with the entire week, the figure is OK.

Good luck and Improve.

Any stats from as few clicks as discussed will be meaningless for assessing performance. The underlying values will be swamped by the effects of the random and systematic variation within internet traffic and the adjustments/corrections made by Google's algorithms and the various checks and corrections them make.

True... true. Your problem isn't Google, but getting traffic to your site.

Good luck.

Still - it is amazing how epc varies. Our ctr stays within 2% over a month, and I can usually predict impressions fairly accurately on any given day. Yet epc on that same day can be anything within a 20% range, and that unpredictably (and we are talking clicks in fairly high triple figures).

However, I have noticed that if a channel starts the day on a particular value - and on one channel that value can be between 1c and $1 - it tends to get high or low value clicks for the rest of the day. Welcome to the adsense rollercoaster!
