Doing the recommended things ie. placement ect. my Click rate is up double and more...the problem is my amount earned is the same and less..to the point of its not worth it...I track url but not specific ads...but it seems the ads that are the ones that get clicked are the ones that d'ont pay anything...
I've taken a Quick look at custom channels..But before I get into the learning curve of that...I question it's worth the time and effort.
...I'm also not too sure how much I can say about earnings...Because saying what I've earned without Page views and clicks...doesn't say much..but the agerage per click I wouldnt bend over for...

This has become venting rather than a Question...

The Question was..Is doing custom channels worth it?

Is doing custom channels worth it?

I can only speak for myself but the answer is yes. Being able to track the relative performance of an individual ad block is a huge tool.

As far as "time and effort," it takes 10 seconds to set up a new channel. I don't even break a sweat.

Using Channels to track everything is absolutely necessary, in my opinion. It will help you pinpoint how particular pages of your site are performing, and help you determine what specifically you could tweak to improve results. It takes time to initially set up, but I have a few dozen channels that I monitor, and its an excellent tool. There really isn't a learning curve issue, in my opinion.

I should point out my site is Humor related and has over 500 videos each opening in its own page. Alot of the entry to my site is not thru the index page, but to movies posted in peoples forums ect. The click rate went up considerably when I redesigned the layout, but the pay out went down so that the say 2 clicks before pay as much as the 4 clicks now..
I use html..and I doubt I can track all my movies Joke and Game Pages..

Are you picking off the 'fleas' and putting them in your competative ad filter? They can suck the life right out of your pages.

Best use the Google adsense tool as clicking on that will not harm your account.

More clicks over the long haul almost always results in lower payment per click. That's been my experience over the past two years with AS.

My clickthroughs will peak and the average per click hits bottom, then I get a day like yesterday when the eCPM bottoms out. I have seen a pattern that is encouraging, though. It is that my lowest daily eCPM continues to rise month over month.

For instance, in October, my lowest eCPM for one day was 1.74, November 1.79, December 1.87, January 1.92, and now February, 1.95. It's incremental improvement from the bottom up and I see fewer and fewer days with low eCPM.

I think the algo readjusts every month, dropping to the low, makes an assessment and goes on. I haven't done any kind of analysis on the top end yet because I'm more concerned with establishing a bottom, which I have done and over the past year, it's that my lowest daily revenue is up about 100%. It's resulted in an increase in monthly revenue of 20-30% against previous year's results. On Wall Street that would be considered excellent, but on the web it's probably only average.

>>>my site is Humor related and has over 500 videos

Isn't humor supposed to be one of the least profitable niches?

Also, none of this is stable. It goes up and down all the time. How long have you been AdSensing?

Just out of curiosity, are you talking about Custom Channels or Custom Channels with Ad Placements?

Custom Channels = tracking only, by section or page(s).

Custom Channels with Ad Placements = tracking by section or page(s), plus the opportunity to attract channel-targeted CPM ads.

In fact, the ONLY thing that you are allowed to say IS dollars. You may not mention CTR, eCPM, or other sensitve data.
