I remember reading posts way back about the supreme genius of adding extra Os to google in adsense ads. Many hyped it as a brilliant, simple marketing strategy worth millions in additional revenue...

So now we are back to plain old google, what happened?

You must have missed the discussion here a little while ago. Someone claimed that sites with "goooooogle" were being ranked as not quality, while those that had the plain "google" were being ranked as quality.

The basis for this theory was that his site, an old content site with much respect in its niche, had all "ads by google." Big discusssion ensued, don't know if there was any agreement as to whether this was real or not. I was a skeptic.

But now we are back to plain "google," huh? Maybe he was onto something, and they dropped it when they were rumbled....

In my case they can't decide and I see a mixture of OO and OOOOOOOOOOO. Not sure it makes any difference personally. I'd prefer it if they stuck to just ads by Google.

Google is probably doing what magazines call "split-run" testing, or maybe the spelling is being rotated every so often to prevent "Ads by Goo[ooo]gle" blindness: On my site, some channels are showing the "oo" spelling right now, while others are showing the "ooooo" variant.

Just looked again and A rather graphical "Ads by G" has appeared.

As long as the cruddy targeting I've had over the last day or so sorts itself ou, I guess it doesn't matter about the logo.

I haven't seen that version. Do you have "image ads" enabled? (I wonder if they're using the graphical logo on sites that allow text ads only, or just on sites that also allow image ads.)

i have text only on certain blocks and they get the graphic g as well.

im seeing
by g (text)
by google (text)
by gooooogle(text)

by google(graphic)
by g (graphic)

i think they look pretty neat, escpecially the ads by g graphic, though im not really sure how i like them on my pages yet. I haven't noticed a drop in ctr so i don't think they bother my users.

They're doing a lot of experimentation this week.

I'm seeing:

Ads by Google
Ads by Goooooogle
Ads by "insert graphical color Google logo"
Ads by "graphical b&w Google logo"
Ads by "graphical blue G"

Nope - cpm and images disabled. Text ads only.

Mind you, this morning it's back to Gooooooogle again.

I like the graphical colored Google.. if they wouldn't chop off the dangle on the lowercase g.

Today seems I'm split between google and goooooogle.

No image ads here.
