What should I do?

Huh? One of my sites shows today 53 impressions and 121 clicks - CTR 228%.

My site's stats do not allow me to see which visitor clicks on Adwords. The only unusual activity today is a visitor from Greece who systematically visited all my pages.

What should I do? Write to Google? Do nothing?

- add Google analytics to all your pages if you haven't doen so already
- keep your webserver logs ready to be given to google (make sure they do not rotate away
- You might volunteer to help them find out what's wrong.

I had a similar problem as of late, I emailed them and they said they would look into it. Haven't heard anything from them, so I guess all is fine now. But yes, I would contact them and let them know that something is wrong, in any case, it only looks better for you.

Sometimes people click on multiple ads from your site. As long as it's not happening all the time or frequently, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Keep an eye out though.

I recently notified AdSense support about a similar problem on one page of my many page site. The CTR is not as high but has been consistently high on that page for several months. I finally decided that it would be better for me to report it than for them to find it first. It is possible that some people interested in that topic click a lot of ads, that is the ideal for AdSense, but still it seems suspicious. I do recall stories from this forum about people who reported suspicious activity and subsequently had their accounts disabled so it was a difficult decision. The email I received from AdSense did address this in an oblique way.

In a follow up email I was reassured that I would be paid for all valid clicks but I have not heard back since then. It has only been slightly more than a week and I am anxious about the results. That page continues to perform well, I just hope it's legitimate.

I would like to maintain a dialog with others in this situation, I'll be watching this thread.

Thanks for the tips. Given the amount of clicks, I have asked Google what to do.

Google acknowledged receipt of my report:
(...) we (...)understand your concern about the recent activity you've noticed on your site.

Unfortunately, due to the proprietary nature of our technology, we're not able to disclose any specific details about the clicks on the Google ads on your site. I can assure you, however, that we've noted your input and we'll continue to monitor your situation closely.

I also wanted to let you know that in the future, we may adjust your payment for any days during which invalid clicks occurred. This helps us protect the integrity of the AdSense program and properly credit advertisers for any invalid activity.

I get thousands of impressions for a single click.. that would worry me :)

I have not yet heard back from Google but the CTR on the offending page seems to be in the normal range again. It was very high for three months so I may have bad news coming if I get a charge-back.

But if it keeps the earnings honest, all the better. I'm in it for the long haul and have plans to expand.
