Maybe?

I'm noticing an interesting phenomenon.

On pages with less content and/or vague subject focus I'm seeing the same couple of ads from one company in my general sector - on every page and they never change. These ads take up the entire 4-ad block.

On pages with more content or clearer subject the ads a normal.

I see that the same company is blasting ads on the TV networks too recently (mostly cable).

Anybody else seeing this sort of thing?

ps. I've also seen similar ads from two other companies too but they seem to have gone away this week.

I was just thinking about it today. Google Adsense has the technology to be the best run-of-network system. They can introduce a new product CPM ads, and have it by verticals, but also to show targeted ads.

That would be great.

Site targetting switched off.

they are showing the same ads on YPN but there they are the standard small ones.

One of the top 5 computer companies.

They keep poping up with slightly different text and different urls like ww1, ww5, ww90.

I know G is trying to destroy my site - this sucks.
People looking for used pintos aren't going to buy a new ferrari.

Hmm, if site targeting is off and Google has yet to announce a run-of-network program, it might not be a bad idea to do a spyware sweep just to be on the safe side.

I saw "One of the top 5 computer companies" ad filling whole leaderboard on my site too. But I thought it was site targeted ad (site targeting is "on" on my site).

Do you think one non-site-targeted ad can fill all the leaderboard space?

Absolutely if you have elected to have image and text adverts. Allegedly the image ads pay well - but for myself the lower conversions out weigh any increase in value.

Mine are not image ads.

They are text ads with 1/2 inch high letters.

So far I've killed 3 different ones.

CTR crashes when they arrive since they aren't really on target and they take up so many smaller pages. I've tried switching to different ad size but they got them all covered except the 125x125 but it doesn't get any click regardless.

I'm confident they are purposely doing this to folks who advertise their sites.

Am I paranoid?... possibly.

They are CPM ads and definitely site targetted! You can't turn off site-targetting (only Google can if you e-mail them to "opt-out").

I blocked them the first few times they appeared on my site, but when I saw they have higher eCPMs than contextual Ads (on my site) I let them run...run...run ;-)

I OPTed out the second week they were introduced.

At the time my clicks were averaging large epc.

Anyway, wouldn't I see the stats for CPM ads in the statistics by ad type?

Currently, of say 10000 ad imps I get 4 or 5 cpm views occasionally.

Now i've got a free f'ing white paper plaguing me from a well known conferencing company.

I blocked it before the shutdown today but it is still showing.

And, for a site that google says absolutely sux and that they prefer I didn't do business with them - it is strange to get so many 'cpm' site targetted ads.

(as well as many ads from Google :)

I'm sure they are simply run of network ads given to sites google hates.

Interesting - CPM ads that don't show as site targetted? They can't be CPM ads then, and must have beaten the total individual Ad bids to appear solo on the Ad block...hmmm...

Maybe a new format expanded contextual Ad, tested by Google on your site :-)
