I didn't get banned from AdSense today!

Surprise, surprise...

This is for FourDegreez so let's hear from the thousands who have quite happily worked within the T&C's without ever hearing from Google except for their earnings' payments or in response to ones own techie questions etc.

And to make it as bit more interesting let's say how long you have been T&C compliant:-)

Me first, 3 years.

When you have multiple sites, how do you choose which one to put in your profile? What's the point of putting one in your profile anyway?

Pick the one you are proudest of, or that is most representative of your work, or that you are the least scared of being looted for your unique ideas/SEO work/AdSense wizardry.

I don't know about other people, but I put my site in my profile so people can see it and get to know me, if they want. And it also makes is possible to use the site as an example in a discussion without violating the TOS and posting the URL.

Since 12th June 2006. (And just made the UPS club in October:) )

I avoid visiting my site as much as possible so as not to affect my stats - wouldn't dream of clicking on an ad on my site (and many other sites now I'm an adsenser). I don't give out my domain name to anyone.

All my pages have more content than ads. I believe I have well positioned ads that are neither disguised nor over emphasised. I don't encourage or direct visitors to click the ads - but my content does try to educate visitors as to what they may look to buy - I guess it's my attempt at marketing.

I was once genuinely tempted by an ad that appeared on my site - nearly clicked on it without thinking. Would this have been allowed?

Adsense is becoming a significant source of income for me - I wouldn't want to jeopardise it by breaching TOS.

It's a good thing you asked now, next month I would have run out of fingers. 10 months.

As for my website in my profile, I've had several. I don't think there is one there right now, because I'm planning on starting a new blog this coming week to deal with web development type stuff, and figured that would be the most appropriate on to link to from here.

Over 2 years.

Been contacted a few times from Adsense support asking me to do small modifications on my sites and have received the best treatment from them, so all those stupid threads about adsense banning publichers for no reason is pure BS. They are more than happy to work with and suggest changes to HONEST webmasters.

Glad to see the crooks getting the boot.

Since June, 2003. Some months after joining I received a "fraudulents clicks" email. It had nothing to do with anything at my end. Nothing ever came of it. For months, even years, afterwards my looking for another dreaded "fraudulent clicks" letter was the only reason I'd even bother to check my email. Now day's I'm much more relaxed. I think it's true. If you play fair you have little to worry about. Although, I will admit on those very few occasions when Adsense is down when I try to check my stats and I can't log in, I do get a little tense, thinking that maybe my account has been terminated.

Very cheerful thread Opti! ;)

I joined AdSense in November 2003. I knew little about optimization, etc. and only put it on a few pages. Every couple of days I would make a whole 25 cents or so, and just never bothered with it because I thought it was like so many other affiliate programs I had tried to no avail.

I started with it seriously in May of this year, and have done quite well. I hate to think about all the money I lost by not really pursuing it further when I first joined.

It is a cheerful thread. I'd much rather read this than - hey I got banned - I didn't do anything to get banned - anybody else get banned - what do I do?

I'm not a google cheerleader but I'd much rather read these good stories than the oh so predictable banned stories.

In AS since it was started. Got into premium program some months ago, so a lot of communcation between me and my rep :) Before that, a few mails to AS support asking if it's ok to do this and that and once changed login email.

I have been a publisher since May 2004 and fully T&C compliant since December 2004. In the beginning I got 2 emails from Google warning me about instances of violations. Oops. Not knowing any better, I argued with them about one of the instances. Why only one ad unit per page when my long pages had room for at least 2? I refered them to my page, explaining how it had more than one ad position available and basically told them it was a silly rule, but I would change it if that's what they wanted. They wrote back, yes, that's what they wanted, change it ASAP. A couple months later, we were allowed 3 ad units per page. I guess I wasn't the only one who complained about it.

I have since been much more careful. I also updated my log-in email recently, they handled it within 24 hours then sent me a survey asking how I ranked the service. Very good.

Another day passes without being banned.

Worth noting that those who posted here are just the tip of the iceberg! For every person in this thread there must be dozens more who also didn't get banned.

Quite something to contemplate.

I've never heard from Adsense and they've never heard from me. I hope that's a good thing?

My problems usually get fixed here in the forum, just by asking. (thanks all)

You're my hero Spacey. I don't doubt that you were instrumental in getting this changed...

I did call them once. It was after I'd just signed up and I was wondering about the rest of my sites. I hadn't found webmasterworld yet so I didn't have the advantage of all this wisdom. I didn't know if I could put ads on the rest of my sites or not but I definitely wanted to and I called them up to ask about that. Their terms said I could but I guess I was just wanting to make sure...

They told me I could and I was off and running..... haven't looked back since...

Since 2003, think june.

had occasional contact with them:

  • Got permission to change the code to be xhtml compliant
  • Switched accounts to a business account
  • Got apologies from them after I got upset at them for running an ad containing extremely inappropriate content
  • Reported an automated click scam run by some group and got questions for more information

I do have a long wish-list for improvements, but you can't have it all I guess.

Haha! Very nice comment indeed. There's a thin line between evil and good, having good intentions and ending up being a criminal- huh?

Since the beginning of 2004, conversations with Google were about changing account email address, several payment related questions and a site review request/custom optimization tips from an AdSense guy.

Thanks for all the fish, G!

my site has been in my profile since I joined WebmasterWorld

Yes, that evil purple thing that made my retinas bleed, I remember that one...

With AdSense 2+ years and forum mods and counting, wonder who the forum mod will be next year?
