Could it be just the niche that I am in? It is a video site, btw.. Maybe there are only low paying ads to be had with my niche market. Any tips will be appreciated!
Thanks!
If the site you're refering to is at the domain used in your email address then maybe the problem is that the ads don't seem to relate to 'anything' on your site.
On your home page I see a lot of different topics (including videos), however, every single ad is for Audi automobiles.
With all due respect it's one thing to serve ads and another to serve ads your visitors might actually have an interest in.
The pages I saw were devoid of any meta 'keyword' tags to assist the crawler in determining which ads to show.
Additionally, all your ads are off screen when the page loads. It's only IF a visitor scrolls that they will encounter them.
I think you can accomplish quite a bit with what you already have if you spend some time at this Google "Improving Performance" reference:

... AND, of course, here!

My guess is you just looked at the home page. Ads appear well targeted on interiors. Pretty common for home page target problems to happen.
No, I looked at more than just the home page and I will agree the ads were somewhat better targeted on the interior but just. I don't agree that you shouldn't be able to get reasonable targeting on a home page with a diversity of topics though.

When Google last spidered your blog page, there must have been a reference to Audis on it.
Ads for a new Audi (or for Audi parts) can be fine on an automotive site, but most of the ads I saw are for sites I consider to be low-paying, low-CTR sites that claim to provide quotes or advice. Whenever you see an ad pointing to a domain that includes things like "bargain", "best", "free", "price", or "secrets", filter them and then see what ads take their place.
Remember that on WebmasterWorld you can use the site search to find an amazing amount of good information.

Weird. Goes to show that two people visit a site and might see entirely different targeting. It wasn't just ok on the interiors for me.
Regardless, if there's a lack of metas, and other structure problems, they should be resolved anyway.
As for his frontpage, the problem is fairly clear, since there is NO theme, rhyme or reason to the content on that page. Shucks, I couldn't manually target for that page.

Well said!
In situations like this I usually try to meta the page and focus the content on something I think most of the visitors will have in common and use what I get. Sometimes it works and I'll bet there are times it doesn't.
I'll bet he can do better than Audi sevices though! Not that there's anything wrong with them! <g>

1: funny video site (very low paying and in the top spot)
2: a dvd offer from my local internet provider : this one was excellent since it might appeal to me and was geo targeted
3: east Indian wedding planning
4: download p2p software
Now as mentioned before, your blog has little in the way of theme and the ads being displayed are the result. One ad block - four diffent ads present a challenge to getting good quality ads.
You may want to zero in a particular topic that you know very well and like to write about. Your entries regarding culture appeared very well targeted. I would try blending the ads more on these pages and working to increase your inbound links to generate more traffic.
