With a minor change my earnings are now 4x of earlier.

Earlier i was using white title, white-grey text and white-grey links.
A 336x280 block under title and above text.

Navigation on right side below google search box.
Background was black.

Now i changed the title color to bright orange, ads title to bright orange, ads text and URL is still white and words like "Search", Topics", "Popular" on right side navigation into bright orange color.
Links are still in whitish grey color.

And booooooooommm

My CTR is now around 3-4%, earlier it was lil bit more than 0.5%

I am earnings 4x now.

It doesn't have to be ornage but you do want your ad titles to pop out a bit. People like to scan and if the titles stand out they can see at a glance if there is an ad they are interested in.

I usually just make the titles a darker color than the other text in the ads. I use text colors that are in the same color scheme as my webpage.

Just wait a bit for SmartPricing(tm) to kick in ... you should see your earnings start falling in a few days' time.

dlcmh - less pessimism. Not everyone gets hit by smartpricing. It could be that this is a great site, and will survive the Google slap.
Most here on this forum will agree, that ad colours are very important, and can have a dramatic effect on CTR. Always worth experimentation - but remember to get a true result it needs to run for a sensible period of time - not just one or two days. Let us know its continued success story - or not! And fingers crossed you don't get smart-priced.

all this fear over smartpricing is a fact... despite google saying smartpricing is to make publishers richer it does the opposite it takesa way 90% our revenue :(

I wonder if smartpricing hits authority sites or sites with huge traffic.

Thanks for the tip, Thaparian, I think I'll try this.

My titles have always been the default blue.

I'll let you know if it makes a difference for me.
