my account was put on hold the other day and there is no feature to disable this hold, it's a google hold not a manual hold..

All It says is to contact google the failure of which prevails to nothing, the strange thing is so is my business adsense account got held too.. it's all too much cries.

to top it all off my account went from 400-800$ day to 10$ for 500k hits day, at a ctr of basicaly nothing.

I'm doing nothing wrong all i did was paste the google ad code and this is the respect i get back... its upsetting me.

now now GP, take a deep breath, drink some cold water and email Google again...try using any contact form you can find in the help section.

Ann, this happens when I'm being totaly compliant with google and their rules.. I'm upset because I've worked hard for over two years on my niche and it was earning more in the first days, nearly 1000$ a day and then suddenly whack 10$ day smartpricing, ecpm hits rock bottom and the proof of which I'm upset because now they disable payments and held the whole thing to add more strain on my life, so now I have big bills to pay for my site to keep it going, I have 15,000 unique ip's daily access my site producing 500k page hits... and now what do i tell them, "my advertising service has smartpriced me to almost zero, the site must be taken offline".

I'm very dissapointed in the google service of which I've been using since january 2005 (when it was good).

I've lost all respect for the service and going to have to resort to a uk publisher that pays decent click values because this is really hurting my business and creating a depression on my life which I don't need right now.

Too bad my near 15,000$+ a month turned into 300$ month over the case of about 4 smartpricing cycles.

Lesson learnt? Don't have a big site you get smartpriced into nowhere.

"nearly 1000$ a day and then suddenly whack 10$ day "

Seems to me something abnormal in your a/c. Maybe that is why it is on hold. They may actually fix the ' smart pricing' thing, and you may come back up ;-) ..wait and see.

seems to me they wont even fix the hold, and I've had to go and put new ad channels and ads around my site just to see a change and i can say "a slight increase but nothing to write home about" has happened.

As for the hold im worried they are delaying a kick out of adsense and they are just gathering my whole years+ of data to against a broken smartpricing worth of crappy income with an algorythm that will support all my income as false by mistake and there i go with a ban and nothing to do but look for something else.

Very strange reply back from google, apprantly they cannot find my account at google adsense anymore... however i login with same e-mail fine... stupid e-mail bot... it's a gmail e-mail and google cant find it listed! I mean is google stealing my money so that they can keep it to pay youtube?

This is why I'm doing my best to get adsense to "just" 50% of my income. Scary....

Best luck to you greedy_player.

Well,
the strange thing is so is my business adsense account

seems to imply already a ToS violation: "thou shall only have one account".

Exceptional high earnings should trigger a review of what you are doing, which is a good thing.

GP, how many sites do you have(under your personal AS Account)?

Keep pushing at Google support - keep replying to every e-mail they send you until they start to help.

If there is a problem with TOS compliance they should know and be able to tell you what it is. It seems that there is a bug in the account somewhere their end that they first need to acknowledge and then fix. It won't help your earnings until they fix it, but it would be nice to know that they are actively working the problem.

This sort of response from Google demonstrated the poor end of their support.

God damn im frustrated, and the business account is a seperate entity to me in which it has its own seperate everything, theres nothing I can do but wait for them to say your account is not listed on our service once again, i'm very annoyed and freaked out how they can suddenly render me gone when I'm still standing there on google earth so to speak, missing me? no i'm here fix your bot!

Slightly off topic:

seems to imply already a ToS violation: "thou shall only have one account".

Not so, multiple accounts are allowed so long as the requirement is justified.

There was a case back in August or so where the publisher was smartpriced almost down to zero before being banned altogether.

I don't know if they'll ban you if your traffic quality is just so crappy they don't want it, or if there's some other connection between the two things. But going from $15,000 down to $300 is a vast drop; you were already 98% banned before this happened.

Someone could have pulled your accounts for a manual review rather than an outright ban. They never tell you everything.

Ann

Maybe someone scraped your site or you are in frames on several sites. It's good that you did not get an outright ban and they are checking...they don't tell us everything.

Do you have a break out script on All your pages?

15,000 unique ip's daily access my site producing 500k page hits

Over 30 page views per visitor? Man, I've heard of some sticky sites, but I thought the only way to get that sticky was to show dirty pics:-)

whats wrong with 30 page views per visit? it's not enough.

I was hoping to hit 1,000,000 page views daily and join the premium adsense club, sounds like I'll be in the no-adsense club soon :(

No replies yet.

Nothing is wrong with 30 page views per visit, it's impressive. My average is 3, and that's for a site that's a respected informational niche site. I do get the occasional 30-page browser, but most people find the information they want pretty quickly and leave.

from 1 page view per visitor to 30 i thought I was doing somthing wrong, thanks for that... makes me feel alot more happier about my niche... the only problem is it reduces my ctr alot and probably caused smartpricing, who knows... but the end of it all is I know im being paid by CPM which is fairly poor on the that side of things, I've asked google to disable them but to no avail.

I really find this a painful experience as you say my site is pulling off some good hits then why the hell have i gone from nearly 1000$ to 10$ day is beyond a joke.. thats 100x less income from smartpricing , and wasn't smarpricing suppose to make publishers more money (this is frustrating)

In another thread, you mentioned some specific CTR numbers for your dating site, and you said that you were earning about $1 for 7,000 visits:

[webmasterworld.com...]

I wonder if your account could be on hold (pending a human review) simply because, now that smart pricing has slashed your earnings, serving ads for the account represents a significant cost for Google without enough revenue to cover that cost.

Side note: Are you running any other kinds of advertising, such as CPM ads from the banner networks? With your kind of traffic, even low-CPM run-of-network ads might be able to produce decent revenues (assuming that you could get enough ads to fill your inventory).

you see, i'm in dead water just because my site hits off 15,000,000+ page views a month and i get a return of about 100$ now... wow may aswel just pack my bags at google once and for all.

Didn't mean to imply there's something wrong with it, just that your site is apparently so sticky that nobody clicks on the ads. I've never run a forum or community type site, I imagine they could get that high, though I've never seen numbers quoted. Do your Adsense impressions agree with your site statistics? I ask because I've seen a lot of phony traffic on our site lately, shows in the logs but not with Javascript tracking.

greedy player

10:23 pm on Oct 18, 2006 (gmt 0)

i track traffic with analytics this is how i know my numbers, adsense is correct also, very spot on, and so is my traffic logs on my server.

Things are looking great however it appears that adsense does not like me.

Alternatively I may try another ad-provider although it must pay at least 0.15 cent a click, 0.25+ would be perfect.

Today I've added extra features to the site to increase my page hits, I think I got around 200,000 more than I usualy get so far today, which is a bonus because thats 20$ a day i might be on, still nowhere near average 500$ or so.

30 pages views per visit!
I can't imagine a site that I'd stay in that long.
Are you doing anything that "traps" your visitors and prevents them leaving your site (e.g. disabling the back button).

These stats look suspicious and could have prompted a review by Google to confirm you are complying with the TOS.

I still think they should at least inform you if they are doing this though.

No my visitors are loyal, 75% of traffic are my user base returning everyday and the remaining are passing by / new members, within most hours I have over 1,000 unique people online, some have been there since Jan 2005.

The problem is that this occoured out of the blue by ip I dont know, but its completely taken hold of my account and I can't lift it, i contact them many times . "payment issue" and it wont be replied to, one reply says can't find my address despite replying to them times before on the same e-mail account and which is a google account connected to adsense as it is, its dumb.

hmm..if 75% of the clicks are coming from the same users day after day - I would think this would raise some eyebrows. They very well could have been discounting clicks from those repeat visitors and that is why the huge decline in revenue. This reminds me of several "AdSense click clubs" that are out there. I wouldn't blame them if they shut down your accounts as return visitors should be "less likely" to click on ads IMHO.

What on earth is your subject, just generally, we don't need specifics?

You must have the stickiest site on the Net:-)
