What a disaster!

I don't even recognize the stats for the day! I'm easily 40%-50% off of a normal Saturday while the impressions (7K-10K) are pretty much typical.

It's easy to see that Google is not immune from the 's__t' happens aspects of life and technology!

After four days of obvious system issues I hope tomorrow offers a bit more in the way of stability.

This last week reminds me very much eBay in the late '90s when they couldn't keep the network on-the-air to save their lives. Maybe tomorrow will be a "free listings" day! Gosh guys... I think it's time you gave us something!

Geez... October had all the makings of being a spectacular month! Maybe there'll be the proverbial "click dump" that'll settle the score properly but I'm not so sure... it hasn't happened to any sufficient degree all week and I'm not getting my hopes up tonight!

AND the bloody Webmaster World forum icons continue to phase in and out of existance! What's up with that? Since when has serving icons on a web page become "rocket science"?

The past few days have been very technologically challenging... sorry, end of rant!

My reports show I'm having a very good day. I would also like to point out to any Google employees that may happen to be reading this that both my dog and I are wearing Google T-shirts.

...or a Google T-shirt.

Google's power and influence is surprisingly wide-ranging. I've been pulled over for speeding many times, but as long as the officer sees my Google T-shirt, I'm invariably set free with a smile and an apology.

Drat, thanks to both of you! This is getting a little weird... the quality of the online relationships has the possibility of being more valuable than the initial reason for being here!

Now stop it! ;-) I'm outta here!

I haven't seen an AdSense shirt, but you can see what's available by searching for "Google Store".

System: The following 2 messages were spliced on to this thread from: http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_adsense/3121619.htm [webmasterworld.com] by martinibuster - 8:44 pm on Oct. 14, 2006 (utc -8)

I usually get 5-6 clicks per day and about 160 visitors per day from MSN and Google and about 700 page views.

I got no click today, zero earnings.

Is this bcos adsense couldn't register clicks?

I was getting mad at my visitors. I changed layout, i blended ads, but no clicks. Hell i embedded my ads into text. Still no click.
What the f***?

Now i read it on forums that it might be a click dump or whatever.

Duhh!

Anyone else in similar condition?

Yawn. Exactly the same as any other Saturday. I'm on track to earn the same as last week, give or take a couple of percent.

Typical Saturday for me.

How many clicks do you need for the T-shirt?
Is it better than a fridge?

My traffic etc was all normal yestserday, but CTR was a tad down - resulting in slightly lower earnings. For me, always happens when the adwords system goes down - no idea why, as apparently everything is meant to run as normal.

Re tee shirt -

You know you've Made It When you've Got A Google Fridge!

trannack, pengi,

If you want to talk about t-shirts or fridges please do so in our AdSense foo forum found here:
[webmasterworld.com...]

It's there for all you adsensers wanting to go OT.

In this thread we talk about AdSense maintenance still to be named by david_uk.

After four days of obvious system issues I hope tomorrow offers a bit more in the way of stability.

It's interesting that this "issue" commenced Wednesday evening my time continuing through Thursday and into Friday and, as usual, mine and a few other sites seem to have been affected first.

Saturday I had a completely normal day for me actually easily earning more than either Thursday or Friday which is crazy when I the avergae is 70-80% of weekday traffic etc.

That Saturday's outtage was unannounced indicates to me a serious "flaw" had been "discovered" and that may have been resolved during the downtime.

It really does Google no favours to deny issue problems when many posting here are plainly having them.

Has their algo grown into a monster they cannot control? Maybe however I doubt that. I feel the issue is technical since my stats have been served from three different URLs this year alone and I know for a fact whenever moving any of my sites that it is very rare to get the transfer 100% correct and mine have nowhere the complexity of Google's!

yes. tomorrow, we will have stable "system issues" NOT "stable system" issues mind you!

Has their algo grown into a monster they cannot control?

- mebbe in their floating point algo, the point floated away?

- mebbe they're adding more decimal places for the 0.00001 cent clicks.

- mebbe they're adding more places for those of us who are earning 10 figures daily.... yeah right...

Me thinks they are cutting us out of the ad loop to make room for the 100million page views/day on You Tube.

It's the "silent arrogance" that becomes more difficult to deal with along with those who continue to insist there are never any real problems.

I submit that Google encounters technical situations, like any other technology based organization, where data is simply lost, missed or corrupted. Sometimes it's one group that gets hit sometimes it's another and, for whatever reason, perhaps there is some group out there that's immune.

In regard to yesterdays outage, I never saw anything after the restoration of service to account for the hours AdSense statistics were inaccessible. Upon return I did see the usual trickle of real time data resume but nothing that could be considered a "settling up" for a significant chunk of the day.

Today is looking good so far so I'll keep a happy thought.

Whilst it would be nice to have the occasional apology from G following unexpected downtime, tools or features not working as advertised, etc. I can imagine the reaction they may receive:
e.g. hoards of the agrieved seeking some kind of recompense for lost earnings - real or, more likely, imagined.

It seems I always receive a response from G if I e-mail a question or a concern except when it is clearly a google bug (sorry I mean feature). My recent problems with loosing 80% of my channels data received 2 e-mails saying they were "investigating", but I received nothing once the problem was resolved. A simple "we've fixed it, sorry for the inconvenience" would have been appreiciated and would would have given me an opportunity to respond expressing my thanks to the support guys.

It's the "silent arrogance" that becomes more difficult to deal with along with those who continue to insist there are never any real problems.

Precisely!

Are they afraid of their stockholders, their competition or is it that they have absolutely no idea what is wrong therefore by neither actually acknowledging nor denying an issue that they sit there fingers crossed and hope that the media does not pick up on their inability to keep control of their technology?

All of us here should know even in our small-scale ventures just how difficult it is for us to keep track of everything happening, heavens knows what it's like for Google but to keep up this illusory pretence of everything being ship-shape does their credibility no good whatsoever.

It's a bit like the old story of the swan floating by serenely meanwhile beneath the water surface all hell is breaking loose.

The interesting thing is why has there been no ex-Google employee who has broken ranks and divulged what is occurring?

A bit like "there ain't no aliens" conspiracy theories!
