Hey Guys:

Yesterday my site had a dramatic increase in cliks... almost as if everyones mouse pointer was magnetically finding all the ads.

I asked G for an audit and they pretty much said... we audit everything all the time and everything is good but, if you do find anything suspicious please let us know.

Can anyone recomend free ad tracking that can monitor - well - I don't know what - but monitor clicks?

I know I'm not that good that I can generate that type of increase overnight... and there doesnt seem to be 1 IP address that stands out in my logs.... nor did I get a surge in traffic.... actually traffic was a bit lower than from the day before...

Thanks in advance!

well the best one I found is Adlogger (just add a dot com to that to get the website) I am not sure if it works with Firefox too but the stats are usually fairely close with Google resutls.
It can also alert u when a same ip clicks on more than one Ad

Interesting. I saw a big hit on one of my sites, the Link Unit ad on that site. It just launched recently, so it's barely getting any traffic - but for 11 page views, I had 13 clicks -- all on the Link Units. Do you track your ads via channels based on ad type ... and if so, do you know if it was link units that were being so heavily clicked?

Thanks Guys!

I will try one or the other - whichever is easier...

I am not currently tracking ad units - just pages...

Every one of my pages has 1 set of ad units and 2 ad boxes (which vary a bit from page to page)...

So... I am pretty much working in the dark - but the above recomendations will surely help.

If a new ad appeared on your site that interested your visitors significantly more than the ads that HAD been there, you could see this.

Any new ads?

Well... That is a thought.... but I have an information site... everyone that visits comes only once....therefore any new ads - no one would notice.

I did optimize my format though and I am sure that has soemthing to do with it...

I added an embedded ad block of 225
I added another small skyscraper to the right....
I moved a large leaderboard from the top to the bottom...

Tinkering is all I did.... who knows...Maybe I finally got it right?

leolapinos...

I hope you're right.... if tinkering made the difference... then I can move on to producing some more content...
