Hi edwardlee and welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Have you have a look through the AdSense forum library?

[webmasterworld.com...]

There's an extensive set of threads in there all of which cover various aspects of making money with AdSense. I would suggest in the first instance you read until your eyes are sore (you will learn a lot), then if you have some specific questions, I'm sure we can help.

Edward, don't expect miracles, sure some people here get good returns, but I bet they have put in years of hard work to get it.

If it was free or easy money then everyone would be in on it.

Just be happy to reach a check a month to start off...

Unless "good revenue" is "more than $500/year", I believe you are motivated by a false premise. A great many of us do not make rent money from AdSense. For some reason, we do not feel motivated to mention this in our posts as often as the (I am certain) much smaller percentage of folks who can pay their rent with AdSense (let alone the even smaller percent who can quit their day job).

If you are still fresh on the site, you might want to build your site towards content that offers higher PPC. That's a start. Anyway's read more on WebmasterWorld forums and you'll get the gist of it. All the best in your endeavour.

If you don't have a site built yet all I can say is this.

Think of an area where your visitors would actually spend money on products or services that would be in the ads. Try to shoot for things that cost over $50 and higher. Usually the higher the value of the advertised item the higher the advertiser will pay to market it.

Money follows money.

Also choose something you like or know about, it makes working on it a lot easier.
