No, its not allowed for regular publishers at this time. It is allowed for some/all premium publishers though.

Since you're not allowed to modify the javascript source... that would be a no-no. Hopefully Google will add that in the future.

I'd hope something like that would help counter the slight reduction in total traffic I saw after adding AdSense.

Wouldn't using BASE TARGET="_blank" in the header make everything on the page open in a new window, including adsense ads? I think that's what this site has has inadvertently done.

It'd be against their TOS.. period.. If a page opens in a new window from your site and carries an ad, it's a no no... I have many pages on my site that do this and got nicked by them for it.. the page has to open up in the same browser window in order to comply. It really does not make sense in my opinion, since it's still a page and it has its own copy of the code on it and it's not altering the code in any way but.. they looked at the pages three times and said.. NO... period, end of story.. they asked that the code be removed from those pages and I complied..

Hmm...i never really understood this. Why does google want the ad to open in the same page and the site to lose it's valuable traffic? A user wud naturally not think of right clicking and opening the ad in a new window coz ads normally open in a new window!

Because the advertisers are the ones footing the bill, and you keep advertisers happy if you want to stay in business.

Plus, some users are disturbed or confused by having new windows open, and it's obviously good business not to mess up the user experience.

I think surfers getting confused is a valid point. But I don't think advertisers are losing their credit, coz their site/product is still getting advertised.
Do you guys click and open any ad u find interesting in the same window?
