Sorta having some confusion. I have seen adsense on multiple forums and topics related to which forums people use them on. I noticed in the ToS google says "no chat sites".

We have a website that offers widgets and has forums related to widgets, such as finding the right widget, different color widgets, and different shapes and sizes. Our members can discuss and share resources related to different things about widgets? We keep our forums moderated and keep all illegal content and profanity off of these forums. Is this ok with google adsense ToS? It is sorta unclear the difference between "CHAT SITE" and "FORUM". Adsense is doing a good job of targeting ads related to our forums.

If anyone can clarify, it would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

I'm using them on a Forum site and was approved for placing ads on this site. It is obvious by the URL of the site which has the word "forum" in it that this is a forum site so I would say that Google considers forum sites ok for adsense.

But, since a forum is a community site with a lot of normal returning visitors you will probably find that your CTR is much lower than some other sites.

Chat sites usually offer real-time interaction between participants. Forums, by comparison, have discussion that does not take place in real time and which usually generates topical pages (whether static or dynamic) which last for some period of time.

good point, I wasn't thinking about the real time aspect of a chat site. So I guess my biggest concern is to just keep thing moderated to prevent Profanity and unsuitable content. Thanks :)

if it's going to be on a forum make sure to install a hack that makes it spiderable- they have them for vb, phpbb, and webmasterworld's style bb
