competing ads clarification

Does a banner for the same company constitute a competing ad?

I just added AdSense to some pages on which I was already advertising one of the most relevant services via banners & Buy buttons from CJ.

Not surprisingly, this advertiser is also using AdWords, so he came up on my AdSense tower. To be safe, I blocked him on AdSense. But now I'm rethinking.

The language about competing ads in the AdSense TOS deals w/ content-targeted text-based ads. I'm running graphic banners & Buy buttons. Am I allowed to advertise this company both ways?

I doubt this would violate adsense's tos. You're not using a competing contextual program, and while you could block the majority of the ads for the advertiser, it's not possible to block them all.
CJ publishers do all sorts of things to get more adwords exposure.

Adsense allows affiliate ads on the same pages. These ads are often competitors of the adwords advertisers.

Bottom line, I have the same senario on a few pages now and haven't had any adsense interference. I can't see why they would care too much about this.

Thanks for the opinion. I think after re-reading AdSense' TOS that I agree.
