Maybe we need an AdSense "12-Step" program:
1. Admit that you are powerless over AdSense, and that your life has become unmanageable.
2. Come to believe that a power greater than yourself can restore you to sanity. (Perhaps the Google engineering team?)
3. Make a decision to turn your will and your life over to the care of Google, as you understand It.
4. Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of your website's ad blocks.
....
?
(Note: This is intended to be tongue-in-cheek, and in no way disrespectful to the many real 12-step programs that exist, several of which I (or various family members) have participated in in the past.)
So no, I'm not addicted to AdSense stats. Not like I was to the old Google updates. Now that was a real adrenaline rush. Not like the more recent ones that drag on and on. The old ones you knew when they had started and more or less when they would end. There was a great element of chance in them as you hoped all your work of the last month would pay off. Meanwhile messages would come up on Google News to check this, or how about that. You could check your backlinks, your place in the serps on different Googles and wonder about how your PR would turn out. Those were the good old days. That was worth checking out when you woke up in the wee hours of the morning. The Google Dance was really addictive and I do miss it. :)
About 3-5 times a day.
Ever notice that the update order is: Page impressions> Clicks> Clickthrough rate> Your earnings.
Not all the time I think you will find. Originally I assumed they were all updated simultaneously but now with more experience I think that they are probably updated independently and the sequencing can be any order. I often see 'impressions' lagging 'clicks' and some orders are more common than others.
Once a day :(
With all the different revenue accounts to check one must ask: why? what are the odds it will lead to action?
I see two legit reasons:
1. To see if there has been prolonged, significant abnormal activity, i.e. catastrophe or jackpot, perhaps once a week, less often over time.
2. To analyze the effects of testing (new colors, positions, formats, etc) and the impact on earnings.
This has been a public service announcement to free up system resources. ;-)

You need help man, I got a refresh script running over my AS page a re/log-in and set it up as my homepage on four boxes standing side by side, if the pages were to turn in real I could use my box as a fan having AS control panel on...
