Our website <snip> has enjoyed a top five ranking with a search for "<widgets>"
basically since google began.
Several months ago we started running adsense on the site.
Now <site> appears to have vanished from google. I dont mean a drop in ranking I mean completely gone.
Does anyone have any idea what could be happening.
strangly though adsense is serving up ads under that keyword.
thanks

6. How does participation in this program affect my site's position in the Google search results?
Participating in Google AdSense does not affect your site's rank in Google search results. Google AdSense will not affect the search results we deliver. Google believes strongly in freedom of expression and therefore offers broad access to content across the web. Our search results are unbiased by our relationships with paying advertisers and publishers. We will continue to show search results according to our PageRank technology.
There is no relation between using AdSense (or Adwords) and a site being removed or penalized in the regular Google serps at all. If it was true, this forum would be filled with similar posts.
If you take a look in the Google News forum [webmasterworld.com] many others are experiencing what you are, and it is not related to the use of AdSense or Adwords.

Your site still has a PR5 and the .co.nz version is still in for your main keywords. That site is a mirror of the dot com.
You have probably hit a penalty for closed loop links, or for mirror sites, rather than anything else.
On balance I would put my money on a mirror penalty
For 8 years now the .co.nz and the .com versions have existed together.
The .com is aliased to the .co.nz so they aren't mirored but both point to the same ip address.
Strangely when the .com version ceased to exist in google it looks like the .co.nz version is now ranked but obviously much lower.
I could only assume that this somehow was linked to our use of adsense.. but from what you are saying I guess not.
The important thing now is to find out
a/ Have we incurred some type of penalty or not?
b/ How do we reinstate the .com in google at least somewhere near where it should be ranked. ie top 5
c/ How do we stop the .co.nz from ranking instead.
Thnaks for you help
Maybe you are experiancing a similar situation. Work on backlinks, and wait for the next update and maybe it will be good to you since you made google some money with adsense!
Good luck to all of us
January was a bumper month for me and Adsense. Since then accross about a dozen sites I have suffered a reduction in impressions and income of around 90%. This is in spite of the fact that all sites and pages are still in the index.
Its all a big mystery to me at present.
