Happy 4th to all!
I have tried putting some MFAs in the block, to no avail.
Tried changing some other elements. This boosted clicks, but compared to the same number of clicks 40 days ago, it is 30% earnings.
Guess I should keep adding content and see how things go this month before real changes are made.

FWIW, my European travel site had an eCPM increase in June. Part of that may have been due to seasonal demand by travelers and advertisers, but a summer-vacation decline in student readership (both K-12 and university) may also have boosted my overall quality of traffic and clicks from my pages. If the higher eCPM doesn't last, so be it; I'll enjoy it while it does.
On the other hand, there's certainly been an increase in the number of publishers, and--just as important--in the number of pages that carry AdSense ads. It's quite possible that the supply of impressions has outstripped the supply of high-paying ads in some sectors, especially for certain keywords or keyphrases. If too many publishers and pages are chasing a finite number of high-paying ads, it's inevitable that more publishers will be served ads with lower-paying clicks.
I just got an invite from Yahoo Advertising Network - guess its time to replace one of the Google spots with some Yahoo Ad's and see what happens... :)
Thanks all for your feedback. Glad I am not alone.
